Jibang Consulting: The shortage of PC/notebook parts is improving, and the SSD master control is still in short supply

IT Home January 12 news, TrendForce Jibang Consulting issued a report on January 10, saying that the global chip shortage is still continuing, but the shortage of PC and notebook parts is improving, and it is expected that the impact in the first quarter of 2022 will be very light.

Jibang Consulting said that due to the limited capacity growth in the first quarter, the supply situation of the market is expected to be roughly the same as that of the fourth quarter of 2021. Some end products have entered the traditional off-season cycle, and the slowdown in demand momentum is expected to alleviate the urgent pressure of OEMs and ODMs on supply chain stockpiling.

In terms of servers, the current FPGA chip lead time is the longest, reaching 50 weeks. The lead time of network chips has improved significantly, from more than 50 weeks to 40 weeks. The demand for FPGAs, PMICs and MOSFETs is still urgent, and the overall market supply is still tight. Future server board production may be affected.

In terms of mobile phones, the lack of cores has gradually eased in the second half of 2021, and the current supply of 4G SoC, OLED drivers, and touch drivers is still tight, and the supply cycle is 20 weeks to 40 weeks.

IT Home learned that in terms of PC and notebook computers, Jibang Consulting said that the current PCIe 3.0 SSD master chip supply cycle reached 8 to 12 weeks, which is more shortage. Other chips, such as Type-C chips, WiFi chips, PMIC power management chips, etc., are gradually alleviating the shortage. Jibang Consulting expects that under the continuous improvement of overall supply chain stability, the estimated ODM plant's laptop shipments in the first quarter of 2022 will only decrease by 5.1% quarterly. If the out-of-stock factor of parts is excluded, the sales status of subsequent channels will also be a major variable.
