Multi-camera into the mainstream: the agency expects to ship 4.92 billion mobile phone camera modules in 2022

Jibang Consulting released a report that it is expected that the shipment of mobile phone camera modules will reach 4.92 billion units in 2022, and from the figures of recent years, the market is still showing a slight upward trend.

Among them, the shipment volume in 2019 was 4.44 billion units, an annual growth rate of 27%; the shipment volume in 2020 was 4.557 billion units, an annual increase of 3%; the shipment volume in 2021 was 4.82 billion units, an annual growth rate of 6%; the annual growth in 2022 is expected to be around 2%, and the trend is gradually stabilizing.

At the same time, Jibang Consulting also said that a major reason for the continuous growth of mobile phone camera module shipments in recent years is that multi-camera has become the mainstream design of mobile phones. At the same time, as manufacturers chase each other on hardware, the penetration rate of high-pixel camera modules is also increasing.

Among them, 13-48 million pixel camera modules will account for more than 50% in 2021. 49-64 million pixel camera modules account for 20%, and it is expected to reach 23% in 2022. The proportion of 12-megapixel camera modules is expected to drop to about 15% in 2022, mainly based on iPhones and some Samsung models.
