The number of cars in Chongqing exceeds 5 million

The reporter learned from the Ministry of Public Security on January 11 that the number of motor vehicles in the country will reach 395 million in 2021, including 302 million cars; the number of motor vehicle drivers will reach 481 million, of which 444 million will be car drivers. In 2021, there will be 36.74 million newly registered motor vehicles and 27.5 million newly licensed drivers nationwide.

By the end of 2021, the number of motor vehicles in the country reached 395 million, and the number of scrap cancellations after deduction of scrapping and cancellation increased by 23.5 million units over 2020, an increase of 6.32%. The number of new energy vehicles reached 7.84 million. By the end of 2021, the number of new energy vehicles in the country reached 7.84 million, accounting for 2.60% of the total number of vehicles, and the amount of scrap cancellation after deduction of scrap cancellation increased by 2.92 million units compared with 2020, an increase of 59.25%. Among them, there are 6.4 million pure electric vehicles, accounting for 81.63% of the total number of new energy vehicles. In 2021, there were 2.95 million newly registered new energy vehicles nationwide, accounting for 11.25% of the total number of newly registered vehicles, an increase of 1.78 million units compared with the previous year, an increase of 151.61%. In the past five years, the number of newly registered new energy vehicles has increased from 650,000 in 2017 to 2.95 million in 2021, showing a rapid growth trend.

The number of car transfer registrations continues to grow. In 2021, the national public security traffic management department handled a total of 30.48 million motor vehicle transfer registrations. Among them, there were 29.23 million automobile transfer registration businesses, accounting for 95.90%. In the past five years, the ratio of second-hand car transfer registration to new car registration has risen from 0.67 to 1.11, surpassing the number of new car registrations, and actively promoting the cancellation of second-hand car "relocation restrictions" and second-hand car off-site transaction registration, etc., the second-hand car trading market has become increasingly active.

In 2021, in order to do a good job in normalizing the prevention and control of the epidemic, the public security traffic management departments in various places vigorously promoted the online handling of 31 traffic management businesses such as replacement of licenses. The national online handling of vehicle and driver's license-related business was 91.5 million times, an increase of 23.81 million times compared with 2020, an increase of 35.17%. Among them, 33.85 million exemption signs, accounting for 36.99%, were issued; 23.84 million, accounting for 26.05%, such as replacement driver's licenses and driving licenses; 17.05 million temporary number plates were issued online, accounting for 18.64%; and 16.76 million online full-score examination and education were carried out, accounting for 18.32%.
