After writing the article "License Plate Exchange" last time, someone asked a question in the comment area: My car is an old car, I think the car number is not good, can I change the new number?
Today I will talk to you about this problem: if you are not satisfied with the license plate number, can you change it?
The answer is: it can be changed, but it cannot be directly applied for a replacement license plate number, which can only be achieved by the following methods:
Many people believe that the change of vehicle between husband and wife and the transfer of relatives are the same thing, and together they call it "transfer".
This is a wrong understanding!
note! "Change" and "transfer" are two different concepts.
1) Change (or name change): As the name suggests, it is only a change in the personal name of the driving license, which is not a transfer in the strict sense, but more of a change of information.
2) Transfer: The procedures are similar to the transfer of second-hand car sales, the ownership of the vehicle is changed, and the transfer fee is paid.
The most essential difference between the name change of husband and wife and the transfer of relatives is:
● Husband and wife rename motor vehicles: ownership remains unchanged, the number plate number can be unchanged, and the number can also be re-selected;
● Transfer between relatives: Ownership has been transferred, and it is necessary to re-select the number, and the original number plate number cannot be used.
Therefore, the most convenient way to change the number plate is "change between husband and wife", which is preferred; the transfer between relatives can be used as a backup, but after the transfer, the car will accelerate the depreciation, so be cautious.
Vehicle transfer is a way that most people know to change the license plate, that is, to transfer the car to other people, such as relatives, friends, etc., but need to bear the transfer costs. I won't dwell on it here.
The so-called "transfer of nationality and change of number" refers to the traffic management department that transfers the motor vehicle out of the place of household registration. In layman's terms, it is to move from one city to another.
According to the Regulations on the Registration of Motor Vehicles:
If the owner of a motor vehicle applies for a change of registration to the vehicle management office at the place of registration because the domicile of the owner of the motor vehicle has moved out of or moved into the area under the jurisdiction of the vehicle management office, the vehicle number plate shall be replaced.
If you just want to change the license plate, this replacement method is a bit costly. This method is not recommended unless there is a need to transfer the ownership of the vehicle.

But this method of changing the number is actually "changing the soup without changing the medicine", the license plate number is still under your name, but the license plate is exchanged between the two cars.
Applicable conditions:
in the name of the owner of the same motor vehicle;
Same place of registration;
Same number plate type;
Non-operating motor vehicles;
Before applying for an unsecured vehicle, the owner of the motor vehicle shall complete the handling of road traffic safety violations and traffic accidents involving motor vehicles.
However, in some restricted cities, there is a more humane license plate replacement policy: because the vehicle is restricted on the same day, the vehicle number plate can be changed.
Taking Hangzhou as an example, according to its tail number restrictions, the number plate regulations are changed:
Individuals (owners of the same motor vehicle or the same family) and units who have any two motor vehicle number plates with the tail number of the same day may apply to change the number plate number of one of the motor vehicles registered in Hangzhou.
However, if the vehicle has illegal and untreated, the traffic accident has not been handled, the overdue inspection has not been completed, and the mandatory scrapping period has been reached, it will not be handled.
This is very friendly for vehicle license plates in restricted cities and is worth learning!

In general, there are 4 "remediation" methods for not being satisfied with the license plate number.
