Introduction: With the official launch of the 2022 Song Pro DM-i, the BYD Dynasty series and DM-i product lineup have added new members, bringing a successful end to the car company's record year.

(Text/Pan Yuchen Editor/Lou Bing) In the past 2021, although the global auto market affected by the epidemic and the supply crisis is still up and down, there are still some car companies looking for opportunities in the chaos and exploring the path of rising against the trend. Among them, BYD, China's largest new energy vehicle manufacturer, with the strong performance of DM-i series models, sold more than 730,000 new vehicles in the whole year, an increase of 75.4% year-on-year, which is a leap forward compared with the previous year.

In December 2021, with the official launch of the 2022 Song Pro DM-i, bydd Dynasty series and DM-i product lineup added new members, bringing the car company's record year to a successful conclusion. As the DM-i series SUV product with the lowest entry threshold at present, whether Song Pro DM-i can inherit the past and win the opening for BYD in the new year has also attracted the attention of many potential consumers.

Like the previously listed Song PLUS and other dynasty series, song Pro DM-i also uses the Dragon Face 3.0 family design language, which is close to the fuel version model on sale, but there are also subtle differences, and the layering of its lines is more obvious than that of the fuel version. There is no obvious difference between the body side and the current Song model, the sharp double waist line is still retained, and the rear space is not sacrificed to deliberately create a hatchback effect; the rear is still an atmospheric through-the-taillight design, ensuring the visual tension of the new car.

In general, the previously listed Song PLUS is younger and sportier, and the overall design of the Song Pro DM-i is more in line with the positioning of an ordinary home SUV, and the overall shape is more moderate and stable.

The body size of the Song Pro DM-i is 4650/1860/1700mm, and the wheelbase reaches 2712mm, although it is not as good as the Song PLUS, but it still has certain advantages over mainstream compact SUVs such as Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.

Inside, the model is wrapped in leather materials, which adds to the sense of superiority of the interior; the seat material is imitation leather, but the texture is good, and the fatigue of the lower waist and hips of the long-term ride is not obvious. At the same time, the model has added an interior color called Kirin Brown + Sky Gray to make the visual effect more refreshing.

The central control design of Song Pro DM-i is similar to that of Song PLUS and other models, but the 8.8-inch dashboard does not form a dual screen with the central control, nor is it embedded in the center console, but is placed in front of the steering wheel separately, mainly used to display driving data; the central control large screen has different sizes according to different models, the top version is 15.6 inches, and is equipped with the latest version of the Dlink 4.0 human-computer interaction system. The system interface is more concise than the old version, and still supports most andriod applications, voice interaction, and 360° rotation. The voice system can control a number of configurations including air conditioning, music, navigation, and sunroof.

Despite being positioned as a compact SUV, the Song Pro DM-i model offers a well-equipped range of comfort and practicality. In addition to the minimum configuration, such as panoramic sunroof, main seat electric adjustment, speech recognition, 360 ° panoramic image, adaptive cruise, lane keeping and other configurations are standard; the two top models also include the electric adjustment of the co-driver seat, front seat heating and ventilation, air purification system, mobile phone wireless charging, atmosphere lights and other general high-end models only have the configuration.

Although the size is not as large as the Song PLUS, the rear space of the Song Pro DM-i is still relatively spacious, and the passengers with a height of 1.8 meters have a knee distance of about 2 fists from the front row under the normal posture, and the rear row has not shortened the seat length to make room, thus affecting the leg support. In addition, the chassis layout of the Song Pro DM-i also guarantees the flatness of the bottom of the rear row. The trunk space is 530L, and it can be put down proportionally, which basically meets the needs of the family.

Undoubtedly, the DM-i super hybrid system is the highlight of song pro DM-i. This hybrid system consists of a Snapdragon 1.5L engine, an EHS hybrid system and a special battery for plug-in hybrid. Official data shows that the comprehensive power of the Song Pro DM-i is 173kW, which is equivalent to the 2.0T powertrain of a fuel vehicle. The battery capacity is 8.3kWh and 18.3kWh according to the version, and the corresponding pure electric mileage is 51km and 110km, respectively.

According to the DM-i design concept, this is a hybrid system based on electric power, and the engine only plays a power generation role in most working conditions, and only intervenes in high-speed road conditions. Therefore, compared with the same level of fuel vehicles, Song Pro DM-i has more advantages in quietness and smoothness.

Under the control of the DM-i system, when the power is sufficient, the driving state of the vehicle is closer to that of a pure electric vehicle, the starting response speed is faster than that of the same level of fuel vehicles, and the official acceleration time of 0-100km/h is 7.9s. The Song Pro DM-i is also available in economy, normal and sporty driving modes.

When the power is low, the hybrid system will control the oil-electricity balance according to the different working conditions. In the urban road conditions, due to the intervention of kinetic energy recovery, Song Pro

DM-i can still achieve more than 80% of pure electric driving state, the engine only in less than 20% of the working conditions of the series hybrid; with the increase of the average driving speed, the DM-i system in the engine series parallel hybrid conditions will gradually increase; and in high-speed road conditions, the engine will be directly driven to intervene in the driving process.

Surprisingly, unless in a state of severe power loss, the driver can hardly feel the intervention of the engine.

In terms of NVH control, because the Song Pro DM-i is mainly electrical in most working conditions, the engine is mainly used for power generation during driving, and almost no noise is generated. The 19-inch Giti tires equipped with the Song Pro DM-i also have a relatively good suppression of tire noise. Only on the highway and in a state of severe power loss will the driver and occupants clearly hear the sound of the engine running.

Despite being a lower compact SUV with Song PLUS, the Song Pro DM-i still uses a suspension combination of front McPherson and rear multi-link, and relies on the tuning of former Mercedes-Benz S-Class chassis engineer Hans Kirk, which can remain basically stable even at high speeds. Because the Song Pro DM-i is positioned as a general household SUV, it pays more attention to comfort in the chassis adjustment, and does not deliberately retain the sense of road, and the vibration through the speed reduction belt and ordinary pit can basically be absorbed by the suspension.

In addition, the new car integrates the Bosch intelligent integrated control system IPB into the braking system and offers two-speed adjustable, with comfort mode braking performance being more linear.

With the electric-based drive mode, in the 100,000-150,000 yuan level consumers are most concerned about the fuel economy, Song Pro DM-i performance is also quite eye-catching. The model is available in 51km and 110km versions with a pure electric endurance. For users with household charging piles, the 51km version can basically meet the daily commuting needs. For users who occasionally need to drive, the 110km version can guarantee that most of the time use pure electric driving, ensuring maximum fuel economy.

Even for users who drive long distances more frequently, the fuel consumption of the Song Pro DM-i remains at a low level in the same class. Official data shows that the model's fuel consumption is 4.4L/100km.

In the process of the observer network's test drive, under the high-speed road conditions of 250km one-way and an average speed of 120km/h, the average fuel consumption of Song Pro DM-i is only about 6L/100km. Judging from the cumulative driving situation of the test drive type, the cumulative average power consumption of this car under various working conditions is 5.8kWh/100km, and the average fuel consumption is only 5L/100km.

Take a look:

The launch of the Song Pro DM-i model has made the LINEUP of the BYD DM-i family and Dynasty series more complete. It is worth mentioning that in the hybrid SUV market of 100,000-150,000 yuan, Song Pro DM-i has almost no direct competitors. Therefore, it refers not only to the head of its own brand, but also to some mainstream joint venture brands of fuel vehicles, such as Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Nissan Qashqa and other Japanese best-selling SUVs.

Compared with the main competitors, Song Pro DM-i, which is based on the advantages of fuel economy, smoothness and tranquility, and cost performance, also has policy advantages such as purchase tax exemption and free license in restricted cities. It can be seen that in the process of BYD's DM-i lineup, its desire to subvert the ideal of fuel vehicles has long been not a dream of Huang Liang.

For BYD, the lack of production capacity at this stage is the only happy trouble. According to some distributors, the order delivery time since the listing of Song PLUS DM-i is generally 3-6 months, and the overall supply difficulty will be exacerbated after the listing of Song Pro DM-i.

Fortunately, BYD is also stabilizing its supply system by continuously expanding its vehicle and battery production capacity. Once the new production capacity is sufficient, BYD is expected to continue to set new records in the new year through the continuous improvement of the Dynasty series and the emerging Ocean series.
