It was only in his later years that the Kangxi Emperor caused turmoil within the imperial court because of the heir to the imperial throne. At the beginning, everyone knew that the second brother Yin Rong would take over the throne in the future, because Kangxi loved his mother very much, so Yin Rong was only two years old and had already been made crown prince, and he was even more literate and martial when he became an adult, and when Kangxi went out on expeditions, he repeatedly oversaw the affairs of the country on behalf of the emperor, and did a good job.
People know that as long as there is no accident, then Yin Rong will definitely be able to ascend to the throne, but Yin Rong sat in the position of crown prince for too long, he began to complain, so he formed a party and became more and more arrogant, and the relationship with Kangxi became very poor, and finally was deposed by the Kangxi Emperor, so many of Kangxi's sons thought that they had an opportunity, so the "dispute over the concubine" broke out.
Among Kangxi's 35 sons, a total of 9 participated in this battle for the concubine, so it was later called the Ninth Son's Concubine, and among the 9 brothers who competed for the position of crown prince, in fact, only this person was deeply loved by Kangxi, because he was the one who really understood Kangxi's thoughts, and this person was not the fourth brother Yinchen, but the fourteen brother Yinchen (ti).
Yin Yu was born in 1688, a full ten years younger than the fourth brother Yin Chan, and his physique was much stronger, he was already very popular with Kangxi when he was young, Kangxi almost every time he went out on a tour, he was almost accompanied, and even the food in his home was directly supplied from the palace, until Kangxi died suddenly.
After the outbreak of the "Nine Sons and Sisters", Yin Yu initially firmly supported the Eight Brothers, and in the forty-seventh year of Kangxi (1708), Kangxi angrily rebuked the Eight Brothers, and none of the other brothers dared to speak out, but Yin Yu stepped forward and said: "Brother Eight has no such heart, and the ministers are willing to protect it!" The Kangxi Emperor was very embarrassed, so Yin Yu was beaten twenty times on the spot, but he also won more appreciation from Kangxi, consciously entrusting him with many heavy responsibilities, and Yin Yu was often able to do extremely well, so he was more appreciated.
In the fifty-seventh year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1718), Yin Yu was appointed by the Kangxi Emperor as a great general, and went to the west to march with the specifications of the Tianzi's personal conquest, and issued a holy decree to the Mongol princes of Qinghai: "Er wait to see the great general ... It is no different from my face-to-face instructions", it can be seen that at this time, Kangxi already wanted to pass the throne to Yin Yu, who had been marching west for three years and performed extremely well, just when he was about to return to the dynasty.
The Kangxi Emperor died of illness suddenly, and the fourth brother Yinchen entered the palace overnight, and together with Long Keduo, he took out a so-called "testament" and successfully ascended the throne to become the Yongzheng Emperor, and the Yongzheng Emperor quickly issued a holy decree after ascending the throne, that is, to let his cronies intercept all the secret letters exchanged between Yin Yu and Kangxi on the road, and not allow him to bring any folds and letters to the capital, mainly to prevent Yin Yu from having the real edict of Kangxi's succession.
It can be seen that in the hearts of the brothers who participated in the "Nine Sons and Concubines" at that time, the people who really won kangxi's love and trust were completely the fourteen brothers Yinyu, and everyone else was just in vain, and it was precisely because of this that Yongzheng and Long Keduo directly took out the "testament" he wrote to support his ascension to the throne, and imprisoned Yinyu for half a lifetime, until Qianlong ascended the throne.
