As early as 1928, when the Northeast Yi banner was changed, Chiang Kai-shek sent Dai Kasa to investigate and find out Zhang Xueliang, but the two talked happily, so they became friends.
In the years that followed, although Dai and Zhang Xueliang rarely met, there was often an exchange of information. On December 12, 1936, Zhang Xueliang was placed under house arrest in Xi'an, and there was a national uproar, and the Nanjing side was in chaos. Some people in Nanjing advocated immediately sending troops to attack Xi'an, some advocated peace talks, and finally the peace talks faction prevailed. At this time, Dai Kasa wanted to volunteer to go to Xi'an to show his loyalty by risking his life, but he could not make up his mind, so he consulted Hu Zongnan, who told him that this was a good opportunity to express his loyalty. So Dai Kasa went to Xi'an with Song Ziwen and Song Meiling.
When they arrived in Xi'an, Song Ziwen and Song Meiling were picked up by the high-standard, while Dai Kasa was disarmed, taken away, and locked up in a dark basement by the military police. There is no contact with the outside world except for someone delivering food. Later, Zhang Xueliang came to see Dai Kasa, and after entering the basement door, he did not speak, and first showed Dai Kasa a piece of paper. Dai Kasa didn't look at it, and when he saw his frightened face like dead ash, he slumped down in his chair.
It turned out that three of the words on this piece of paper were: "Kill Dai Kasa." Dai Kasa realized that he had locked himself in the basement to find an opportunity to end up with himself. Just when he was desperate, Zhang Xueliang said: "Brother Rain Farmer, I have wronged you, only here can I guarantee your life safety!" Dai Kasa heard the words, jumped up, excitedly shook Zhang Xueliang's hand, and it took a long time before he intermittently squeezed out a sentence from between his teeth: "Khan Qing, your grace of regeneration, Kasa, no teeth do not forget!" ”
Dai Kasa's trip killed two birds with one stone, which not only expressed loyalty, but also gained a life-and-death friend. Soon, however, it was his turn to be thankful, and Zhang Xueliang escorted the elder Chiang back to Nanjing, where he was placed under house arrest as soon as he got off the plane until Chiang Ching-kuo came to power decades later. When Zhang Xueliang was under house arrest, although he was not free, he did not suffer any crimes because of Dai Kasa's care. If Dai Kasa had not died in 1946, perhaps Zhang Xueliang's fate would have changed.
