At that time, his father Liu Taigong laughed and did not speak after hearing it.
The second thing is that in the fourth year of the Han Dynasty (203 BC), Liu Bangxiangyu's Chu-Han war came to an end, and the Chu State showed a trend of inevitable defeat. At that time, Xiang Yu was not willing to be defeated and directly tied up Liu Taigong and shouted to Liu Bang, if he did not send troops or surrendered, he boiled Liu Taigong and drank soup.
At this time, Liu Bang did not waste his years of efforts with his brothers, and could only pretend not to care. I have been brothers with you in the early years, you kill my father is to kill your father, if you must kill your father, give me a bowl of soup to drink. Xiang Yu couldn't get his hands on it after all, so Liu Taigong was saved.
Therefore, after all these circumstances, the stiffness between Liu Bang's father and son is almost inevitable. However, in addition to Liu Bang's criticism of the previous incident, he was still very filial at other times. Even if he became an emperor, just like when he was not an emperor before, he would go to ask for peace every five days, and it was normal to kneel and prostrate in the middle.
In the long run, the housekeeper around Liu Taigong was anxious when he saw it. So one day after Liu Bang asked An to leave, he took this opportunity to persuade Liu Taigong to the effect that your son is now the emperor and the most honorable person in the world. Even if you are the father of the emperor, there is no reason for the emperor to kowtow to you, according to the rules, you should kowtow to the emperor every time.
Liu Taigong thought the same thing, but it was not quite right for his own Lao Tzu to kowtow to his son. So the next time Liu Bang came again, he took a broom and swept the floor at the door, which means "sweeping the floor out of the door." Liu Bang looked at it wrong, and Liu Taigong told Liu Bang these truths that the housekeeper had told him.
Later, Liu Bang was shocked and felt that this would not work. After I went back, I had to take out the problems that I had put in my heart and think about them. After much deliberation, he finally decided to make his father the "Emperor Taishang", which meant that he was the emperor of the emperor, so that he could see his father without having to let his father perform the ritual.
As a result, all subsequent dynasties have continued to use the method invented by Liu Bang. China, on the other hand, has also become a country that "rules the world with filial piety" since the Han Dynasty, and has been followed for thousands of years until today.
