In the first 11 months, the cumulative sales of new energy passenger cars were 2.438 million units, an increase of 170% year-on-year. Among them, sales of 366,000 units in November hit a record high, and the market share exceeded 20%.

Compared with the situation that fuel vehicles are only single-digit growth or even negative growth of some brands, the performance of new energy vehicles can be described as a unique scenery.

While new energy vehicles outperform the national market, their performance in the Henan regional market is more remarkable. Some insiders frankly said that in 2021, Henan's auto market new energy vehicles and fuel vehicle sales showed a double day of ice and fire, and the penetration rate exceeded the national average, and the penetration rate was a core data that especially reflected the development of the industry.

According to the relevant data obtained by the reporter, after the sales of new energy vehicles in Zhengzhou doubled in September and October, the sales volume of new energy vehicles in November reached a new high, exceeding 10,000 units, becoming one of the top ten cities in the country in terms of new energy vehicle sales. It is worth noting that among the top ten cities, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Tianjin, etc. are all "limited number plate" cities.

By the end of November, Zhengzhou had sold more than 60,000 new energy vehicles, and Henan Province had sold more than 210,000 new energy vehicles. Among them, the most worth mentioning is that the market penetration rate of new energy vehicles in Zhengzhou, Puyang, Luoyang and other cities has reached more than 30%, which means that for every 100 cars sold, more than 30 of them are new energy vehicles.

Driven by multiple factors, the consumption of new energy vehicles in the province is generally hot

Why can Zhengzhou, which has unlimited number plates, rank among the top ten in the national new energy vehicle sales, and compete with many first-tier cities with "limited number plates"? In November, new energy vehicles accounted for nearly 30% of Henan's automobile sales, so why did almost all parts of the province show strong demand for new energy purchases?

"Not only Zhengzhou, But also Puyang, Luoyang, Anyang and other places have shown strong demand for new energy vehicles." Luo Guan, director of the Central China Region of Hechuang Automobile, said that in the northern Henan market, especially in Puyang, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles is close to 40%, and the acceptance of new energy vehicles by local consumers is very high, and many young people's first car in life starts from new energy vehicles.

Moreover, in recent years, Henan has also increased its investment in promoting the construction of charging piles, making the corresponding supporting facilities more perfect and more convenient to use. In November 2021, the General Office of the Provincial Government issued the "Implementation Plan for Accelerating the Development of the New Energy Vehicle Industry in Henan Province", proposing that by 2025, the annual output of new energy vehicles in the province will exceed 300,000; in addition to emergency vehicles, buses, cruise taxis and trucks in urban built-up areas and municipal sanitation vehicles in the province will basically use new energy vehicles; more than 2,000 centralized charging and replacement power stations and more than 150,000 charging piles of various types will be built in the province.

For the reasons for the hot sales of new energy vehicles in Henan, Liu Lei, vice president of Nezha Automobile Marketing Company, believes that "in recent years, the 'single and double number restriction months' at the end of many cities in Henan have directly stimulated the development of new energy vehicles, and popularized the knowledge of new energy vehicles through just needs." Moreover, new energy vehicles have obvious advantages over fuel vehicles in terms of right-of-way advantages and daily maintenance and use cost economy. In his view, the reason behind the hot sales of new energy vehicles is also the result of multiple factors such as Henan's demographic dividend and the upgrading of the low-speed car market with huge stock. Hu Qiushi, manager of BydIr auto Zhengzhou Region, also pointed out, "First of all, the inflection point of the national market has arrived, and secondly, the new energy models within 100,000 yuan, which account for a relatively large proportion, meet the needs of mainstream users." At the same time, the attention and investment of various OEMs in Henan has also promoted and accelerated the development of new energy vehicles in Henan.

New energy vehicles enter the explosive period or earlier than 2025

Judging from the current sales data, Henan's new energy vehicle consumption is mainly based on entry-level models and high-end models, showing a dumbbell-shaped structure, why is this?

"At present, the consumer group of new energy vehicles is more of a pioneer consumption." Qiu Zongyang, regional manager of FAW-Volkswagen Zhengzhou, said that most of the consumer groups of new energy vehicles have a relatively strong curiosity and are willing to try and challenge new things, and this part of the people have strong consumption power, so they directly drive the consumption of new energy high-end vehicles.

Luo Guanlai, director of The Central China Region of Hechuang Automobile, said, "Thirty or forty thousand yuan can buy a small and cute new energy vehicle as a scooter vehicle, which for many young people, not only has a low car purchase threshold but also takes the lead in enjoying the pure electric travel experience, which makes the entry-level model take the lead." With the continuous improvement of the penetration rate of new energy vehicles, after consumers gradually transition from the early adopter period to the popularization period, new energy vehicles will truly enter the outbreak period. The sales volume of first-line limited number plate cities has been saturated, the market growth space of provincial capital cities such as Zhengzhou is huge, and Henan has a good "gene" and "soil" suitable for new energy vehicles, and the future consumption structure will change from the current dumbbell-shaped structure to the olive-formed mature market.
