This Japanese army was the second division of Kenji Doihara, with a total attack of more than 20,000 people. Kenji Toihara led 20,000 people from north to south and plunged headlong into the encirclement of the nationalist heavy army group in the eastern Henan Plain. Not only that, Tu Feiyuan especially despised the Chinese army, and also lined up in the wheat fields of the Eastern Henan Plain, crushing the wheat fields with hundreds of tanks and armored vehicles, which was quite arrogant.
At this time, Cheng Qian, commander of the First Theater, and Xue Yue, commander of the First Corps, planned to annihilate these 20,000 arrogant Japanese troops and recreate the light of the Battle of Taierzhuang -- to tell the Miscellaneous Army that our Central Army is not a vegetarian!
When the Second Division saw that the situation was not right, it directly broke through to the east and crashed into the city wall of Lanfeng County!
If the defender of Lanfeng County was Pang Bingxun of the Northwest Army in Linyi, or Wang Mingzhang of the Sichuan Army in Teng County, the Second Division could be completely annihilated. This night, there was a fire in Changsha City! The fire brigade immediately sounded the fire alarm! The army in the nationalist city thought that this was the signal to burn Changsha! Act quickly, and Changsha City will be destroyed in one fell swoop.
The fire burned for three days and three nights, more than 30,000 ordinary people were burned to death, and the burners were countless, and more than 90% of the thousand-year-old city of Changsha was burned.
