Just after midnight, a heavily guarded prison cart arrived at the execution site and stopped in the east of the "prison shed". A beautiful girl slowly stepped out of the car, only to see her hands tied behind her back and shackles on her feet. The long period of torture could not hide her beautiful face. From time to time, a sigh was issued among the onlookers. When the "supervisor" finished reading the "edict", the young girl was escorted to the "Ling Chi Pillar" in the west to stand by the side. There were already good deeds who found out the identity of the young girl, and it turned out that this young girl was Wang Nanxian, the leader of the Nanlong Buyi uprising that shook the southwest of Qianxi.
Perhaps it was the ecstasy of the "Broken Bowl Residence" that played a role (every time the Qing court lingchi prisoners, they had to let them drink a special bowl of medicinal wine in advance), and Wang Nanxian looked a bit wooden, making it difficult to connect the haggard girl in front of him with the heroic rebel heroine. However, the name of the Imperial Immortal Niangniang was unknown to everyone at that time, and no one knew it.
Wang Nanxian was originally named Wang Acong, born in 1777, and his ancestral home was Dongsa Village, Chengnan Township, Nanlong Province (present-day Anlong County, Xingyi City, Guizhou Province). Because she is beautiful as a fairy and is good at healing the villagers with herbs, the local Buyi villagers all honor her as Wang NangXian (Buyi language, meaning Xian Gu).
In the early years of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, imperial court officials and local landlords exploited indiscriminately, and the people did not have a good life. In the first month of the second year of Jiaqing (1797), the Miao and Han ethnic groups rose up and launched the Nanlong Buyi Uprising that shocked the Qing court, and the rebel army promoted Wang Nangxian and Wei Axin as the leader, with The Emperor XianNiangniang. Nearby villagers came to their aid, as many as hundreds of thousands of people at their peak.
When the Jiaqing Emperor heard the news, he immediately sent the Viceroy of Yungui to suppress it, and then dispatched the Viceroy of Guangxi to lead the troops to attack, coupled with the ambush of the folk townspeople in various places, so that the rebel army gradually fell into a predicament, gradually retreated, and finally ended in failure, Wang Nanxian and other rebel leaders were captured by the Qing army, loaded in a prison cart and escorted to Beijing with heavy troops.
After Wang Nanxian was escorted to Beijing, according to the laws of the Great Qing Dynasty, she was such a repeat offender of "plotting rebellion and rebellion", needless to say, only Ling Chi could relieve the hatred of the imperial court.
According to the afterward recollections of those present, Wang Nanxian was cut with as many as 3650 knives, which can be regarded as the highest record in the 260-year history of the Qing Dynasty, so some people also called this execution a veritable "first slash of the Great Qing". What is admirable is that at the time of the execution, the 20-year-old Wang Nanxian clenched his teeth and never let out a single moan. After Wang Nanxian's death, the people of Nanlong all wept bitterly. To this day, there are still activities to commemorate Wang Nangxian in the local area. The Buyi people also wrote a long narrative poem for her to commemorate this great heroine, A Congchang Elephant Pattern... Looks more beautiful than camellias.
