Wei Lihuang was the number one war criminal in the Nationalist army, and after he returned to the mainland, why did the six founding marshals receive the wind for him and receive many banquets from great people? Next, I will briefly introduce the story of Wei Lihuang, who was born on February 16, 1897, in Weiyang Village, on the eastern outskirts of Hefei, Anhui Province. His father, Wei Zhengqiu, had served as a Tianfu official in Shitangqiao Town, Hefei County, and had a certain reputation and prestige in the local area, but later died of the plague. Since then, Wei Lihuang and his eldest brother have been dependent on each other. Perhaps because of the hardships of life, Wei Lihuang's mind was particularly mature, and he worked very hard during his studies and studied many history books. This experience laid a good cultural foundation for his future career.
After the outbreak of the Xinhai Revolution, Wei Lihuang, because of the influence of his brother and friends, cut off his whip and entered the army to participate in military training. In 1914, Wei Lihuang enrolled in the Hubei Army Cadet Battalion, and after being admitted, he received about a year of military training. During this period, he learned a lot of military knowledge, and his horizons also broadened a lot.
Later, Wei Lihuang did not want to join the Beiyang Army, so he ran to Shanghai to look for revolutionaries. In September 1917, Dr. Sun Yat-sen established the French Protector Military Government in Guangzhou and was appointed Grand Marshal of the Navy and Army. Because of his outstanding ability, Wei Lihuang was selected to join Sun Yat-sen's guard. During this period, he followed Dr. Sun Yat-sen and learned a lot of revolutionary principles. Soon after, he was promoted to platoon leader of the Guard Regiment. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Wei Lihuang became the superior of the Eighth Route Army because of his position. He often entertained the senior generals of our army and had good friendship with the cadres of the revolutionary organizations.
In order to better resist the Japanese invaders, Wei Lihuang provided the Eighth Route Army with 1 million rounds of ammunition and 250,000 rounds of grenades. After several years of arduous war of resistance, the domestic situation gradually stabilized, and during the arrogance of the Japanese aggressors, they were gradually suppressed by our country. Eventually, Japan announced its unconditional surrender. After the outbreak of the Liberation War, Wei Lihuang was unwilling to fight with his compatriots and went abroad in the name of inspection.
After being forcibly recalled to China, Wei Lihuang was always reluctant to send troops, and was eventually dismissed from his post and investigated. Therefore, the generals of our army have basically no hostility toward Wei Lihuang. Therefore, when he returned to the mainland, he was welcomed and treated favorably by our army.
