Logically, a person as clever as Hezhen should have seen the wind and steered the rudder early and submitted to the new emperor Jiaqing. If he can choose the direction as soon as possible, perhaps his fate may change. But in reality, he didn't do it. Then, as a generation of corrupt officials and powerful officials, He Yanming was so smart, why didn't he return to Jiaqing sooner?
First, Jiaqing already hated Hezhen, and it was useless for Himan to choose to submit to him.
In fact, we ordinary people know things, and can he not know? Since he knew that he should go to Shun Jiaqing early, but he did not do so, there must be some reason for this. Many people may not know that Jiaqing and Hezhen had already formed a bond when the former had not yet become emperor. In other words, since then, Jiaqing has already hated and burned to the bone. First of all, when Jiaqing had not yet become emperor, He Yan not only always showed contempt when he saw him, but also always said bad things about him in front of Qianlong. It is said that on several occasions, Jiaqing was almost punished by Qianlong for provoking dissension with Hezhen. Even so, how could Jiaqing not hate Hezhen?
Second, let's talk about Jiaqing's situation after he became emperor. Logically, Jiaqing had become emperor, so how could He yan, who was a human subject, show him respect that was not inferior to Qianlong's? In reality, however, Washu did not do so. At that time, Qianlong was afraid that after giving up the throne, no one would listen to what he said, so he just gave up the throne and continued to hold the imperial power firmly in his hands. At that time, He Yan was a red man around Qianlong, and only He Yan could understand the meaning of qianlong's words, which were already elderly. Therefore, Qianlong approved He yan to stand between himself and the new emperor Jiaqing during the shang dynasty. As a result, he's status in the DPRK was obviously much higher than that of Jiaqing. What new emperor could tolerate a courtier like this? Even so, even if Na He yan went to submit to Jiaqing, it is estimated that Jiaqing would not accept him. In this case, why should He yan still make a contribution to not please?
Second, Qianlong did not want He Yan to submit to Jiaqing, and where he had the courage to go against his wishes.
During the reign of the Qianlong Emperor, he not only regarded Hezhen as his right-hand man, but also used him as his own money bag. Especially in Qianlong's later years, he became more and more addicted to living a life of luxury and enjoyment. After making the national treasury a serious deficit, he could only pin his hopes on Hezhen, who had a very "financial management" mind. And He Yan also lived up to high hopes, relying on overt and covert corruption to satisfy Qianlong's needs and also to obtain huge family property for himself. After that, the pair of monarchs are like tacit partners, one turning a blind eye to corruption; the other trying to do everything possible to accumulate wealth.
When Qianlong had to abdicate and give way to Xian, the last thing he was willing to do was to change his authority. That's why he gave way. That is to say, at this time, he could not tolerate anyone to completely treat him as a taishang emperor. If He yan chooses to submit to Jiaqing, then Qianlong is bound to think that he has betrayed him. In this case, can Washu still have a life? Some people may say, is Qianlong still willing to kill Hezhen? Who would make a fortune for him then? This is not accurate, the king has always paid attention to the word loyalty in the use of people. He Yan dared to betray Qianlong, so why was Qianlong reluctant to kill him? Besides, He Yandu chose to submit to Jiaqing, where would he willingly help Qianlong amass wealth?
Third, He yan, who has become greedy and has become a big corrupt official, cannot adapt to the life to be lived after returning to Jiaqing.
In addition to the above reasons, he did not choose to submit to Jiaqing early, which was also related to his greed at that time. People who are familiar with Washun's life experience should know that in the beginning, Hezhen was also a good official. Later, after slowly becoming corrupt, he became greedy for money uncontrollably. Especially when the Qianlong Emperor deliberately ignored his corrupt behavior, He yan's greed was even more unscrupulous. If he had chosen to submit to Jiaqing early, then with his understanding of Jiaqing, he would have to squeeze some oil and water out of Hezhen's body first. And since then, with Jiaqing, who aspires to be a good emperor, he doesn't have to think about how bad his life will be.

As the saying goes, it is easy to go from frugality to luxury, and it is difficult to go from luxury to frugality. He Yan is accustomed to a life of luxury and enjoyment, where is he willing to live an ordinary or even simple life that needs to grit his teeth? In addition, What He Yan did, Qianlong, as an emperor, could not understand. In the qianlong dynasty caused some deficits, Qianlong could not have thrown the whole mess to his son. Of course, even if He Yan had the intention of submitting to Jiaqing early, Qianlong would not have given him this opportunity. In this way, He Yan was doomed not to return to Jiaqing early.
