Kublai Khan (1212–1294) was a Mongol politician, military strategist, fourth son of The Overseer Torre, and founding emperor of the Yuan Dynasty. After the death of his elder brother Möngke in 1260, Kublai Khan took the throne as Khan in Kaiping. In 1271, the name of the "Great Mongol" was changed to "Yuan", and in 1272, the capital was designated as Dadu (present-day Beijing), creating the 98-year-old Yuan Dynasty. So what contributions did Kublai Khan make to Chinese history?

5. Expedition overseas
After the fall of the Song Dynasty, Kublai Khan launched a series of wars against neighboring countries, such as Annam, Champa and Japan, although various reasons such as weather or geography were almost fruitless, but these laid the foundation for the expansion of the territory of the Yuan Dynasty later.
6. Formulate Mongolian characters
In order to improve the cultural level of the Mongols, Kublai Khan ordered the Tufan monk Basipa to formulate a new Mongolian character, promulgate the world, and translate some Chinese classics.
