Interview with Lee Wei

Author of "May The Man Last"

Q: Why did you think of writing such a work as "May The People Last"?

When I wrote "May People Last", my grandmother was bedridden due to illness, because she fell down in the spring when she pulled the locust flowers on the tree of her old man......

On National Day, my husband and I went back to visit, and the old man in his nineties was ready to go back to see the last meeting. My uncles and elders in the house were discussing the affairs behind me in a normal tone, while my grandmother was lying in a side bedroom across the door. At that time, I had a lot of inexplicable emotions, and if I were to be paralyzed in the future, this group of unscrupulous descendants would be discussing my affairs outside the door, and I would have to take them all away!

...... Off-topic, I am like this, pulling a sentence from the east to the west.

Q: I think your works are still quite "romantic", including "I Hope People Last", and the previous "About the People I Love", I don't know if this feeling is accurate?

My initiation of "romance" came from a very young age, long before I entered preschool. At that time, my hair was very long, almost waist-high, and I liked to run around the streets like crazy people in a shawl, so that I would imagine myself as a princess. Especially in the busy summer of farming, when the adults are on the asphalt road to raise the wheat husks, the wheat husks in the sky, that is the best romance in my opinion.

My aunt's house has a small river slope, and I often run to the river slope alone in the afternoon to play, and when I get tired, I will directly lie on the ground and sleep. No matter where I played at that time, it seemed that as long as I was sleepy, I would just lie down on the ground and sleep. Once I fell asleep on the slope of the river and was picked up by the neighbor who herded the sheep. Thinking about it now, I like to lie on the ground in such a way that it will make me feel at ease and steadfast.

I think these things still have a lot to do with the style of my writing. Since I was a child, I have been a lonely child, and I love to stick into the pile of adults. Because I am a child, adults naturally do not shy away from speaking, chewing the root of the tongue behind this, gossiping about this behind my back, I am like listening to a book, listening to it with relish. So much so that when I wrote a novel later, all that came to mind was this context and picture.

My writing is not structured, quite casual, according to the feeling of where it is, often as long as there are some pictures is enough, the characters are also shaped little by little in the writing process. Words and sentences are also not exquisite, as simple as they can be, as long as they can use it with ease, no matter how simple it is, it will still touch people's hearts. Due to my writing ability, the limitations of my personal vision, and my interest preferences, my work revolves around life and the self from beginning to end. The greatest charm of writing for me is that it can be fearless and disorderly.

Q: When did you start writing?

If I had to study carefully, it was one afternoon, I was so bored, I had some pictures in my mind, I named the characters at the moment, and the next day I wrote along with the feeling. I write about ordinary people because I am an ordinary person, and the circles I contact and understand are ordinary ordinary people. I think we're cute and well worth writing about.

Writing meant nothing to me at first, but it was just a pastime. Later it was written that it had meaning, and it could make me strong and peaceful inside. It is also the me now, the book of laughter and forgetfulness written to the past me.

Q: What do you think is most important for fiction?

I don't care if the structure of the novel is exquisite or not, and the story is not brilliant. What I care about is what I gain in the process of writing, and what I pass on. This is the fundamental value of continuing to write since my passion for writing disappeared.

I have always been the biggest beneficiary of writing, and it is my intention to be able to write calmly and fearlessly. Constantly writing can make me reflect, let me get a transformation from it, and make me reconcile with my former self. Although occasionally it doesn't work, I will be defeated and defeated in an instant, but that does not prevent me from being able to quickly stand up afterwards and turn all this that has crushed me into strength for my use!

For the value of the work: If any reader is healed by my work, even if it is only for a moment, I will be very happy about it.
