The front trunk lid may suddenly open, the reversing image may fail, and Tesla recalls 200,000 vehicles!

Today, Tesla announced that in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products, it has filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulations and decided to recall nearly 200,000 vehicles from now on.

First, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 19,697 model S electric vehicles imported from the production date from January 21, 2015 to November 18, 2020.

Vehicles within the scope of this recall may have a slightly backward alignment of the front load compartment latch and the lock latch, which does not affect the locking of the primary lock latch, but may affect the locking of the secondary lock latch. When the primary lock latch is accidentally released, if the secondary lock latch is not locked, the front trunk cover may suddenly open during the vehicle driving, affecting the driver's line of sight, increasing the risk of collision accidents, and there is a safety hazard.

Tesla said that it will check the secondary locking device of the front load compartment cover for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge, and if it is found that the front load compartment cover is not properly locked by the secondary locking latch device, the front load compartment locking device will be repositioned and installed to ensure that it is in the correct position to eliminate safety hazards.

Second, Tesla announced a recall for a total of 35,836 model 3 electric vehicles imported from the production date from October 4, 2018 to November 20, 2019. At the same time, the recall, the production date of October 14, 2019 to December 27, 2020, some domestic Model 3 electric vehicles, a total of 144208.

The trunk cover of the vehicle in question can cause excessive wear of the trunk harness after a long period of repeated opening and closing. If this wear causes the core separation of the coaxial cable, it may cause the reversing image to not work properly, thus affecting the driver's field of vision when reversing, and in extreme cases, it will increase the risk of collision when reversing, and there is a safety hazard.

Tesla said it would inspect the trunk wiring harness for free for vehicles within the scope of the recall. If the degree of wear is within the allowable range of the design of the coaxial cable, a protective cover will be installed for the trunk harness to ensure that the harness has a sufficient bend radius when the trunk is closed to prevent further wear; if the degree of wear is beyond the allowable range of the coaxial cable design, the vehicle will be replaced with a new harness and a protective cover will be installed to eliminate the safety hazard.

Tesla also reminds car owners that users should drive the vehicle cautiously before the vehicle recall repair, and contact the Tesla service center for maintenance as soon as possible after the recall begins to be implemented.
