In July 1937, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out in full swing. After the Japanese army invaded and occupied Hebei, it quickly moved south, and the Soldiers pointed out that in the Sino-Japanese War, they vainly tried to invade the Shandong region. In September 1937, in order to strengthen the anti-Japanese armed forces in Shandong and extensively carry out guerrilla warfare behind enemy lines, Yan'an arranged a large number of cadres to come to Shandong.

[In the Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese War, Japan vainly attempted to invade and occupy our Liaodong Peninsula through the "Treaty of Maguan," but later attempted mediation by Russia, France, and Germany.
When these cadres passed by the Taiyuan office of the Eighth Route Army, they happened to meet Zhou Enlai, who was inspecting here. Zhou Enlai specially met with them and said in a serious tone: "Sowing you as seeds behind enemy lines, I hope that you will soon bring up thousands of troops to break out a new situation behind enemy lines and look forward to your victory!" ”

Most of these cadres joined the Red Army in their early years, smashed the enemy's "encirclement and suppression," walked through the Long March, and had rich experience in war. In the early stage, they studied at the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University, and this time they went deep behind enemy lines to carry out their missions, and they were already eager to try it when they were in Yan'an. At this time, in the Taiyuan office, I heard Zhou Enlai's earnest entrustment, and I was full of passion. Among these cadres, Liao Rongbiao is one of them.

Liao Rongbiao was born in October 1912 to a poor family in Shuikou Village, Hanfang Township, Ganxian County, Ganzhou, Jiangxi. When he was young, he studied in a private school for three years, but had to drop out of school due to the death of his father. During the Great Revolution, liao Rongbiao, who was only 15 years old, participated in the peasant revolt in Shuikou Village and joined the Red Army in 1929.

After Liao Rongbiao joined the Red Army, he made rapid progress and fought bravely, and soon grew into a company commander of the Red 3rd Army. In the anti-"encirclement and suppression" operations in the Soviet zone, Liao Rongbiao successively participated in the battles of Nanxiong Shuikou, Le'an Yihuang, and Jinxi Zixi, and was heroically wounded in the bloody battle of Guangchang.
During the Long March, Liao Rongbiao successively served as the commander of the 1st Battalion of the 1st Division, the 2nd Regiment of the 1st Red Army, and the company commander of the 1st Column of the Shaanxi-Gansu Detachment, and participated in the Battle of Zhiluo Town. Before the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he served as the commander of the Independent 5th Regiment of the Red 1st Front, and later studied at the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University.

These cadres were ordered to come to Shandong and met Li Yu, the secretary of our party in Shandong. Li Yu told them that the Japanese army was about to invade Shandong, and Han Fuyu, who was in charge of the military and politics of Shandong by Jiang's army, was ready to flee, and they decided to organize an uprising before Jiang's army retreated and the Japanese army had not yet reached. He arranged for the former cadres to rush to various places quickly, familiarize themselves with the situation, mobilize the masses, and be ready for an uprising at any time, and Liao Rongbiao was arranged to go to Changshan Middle School.
Ma Yaonan, the principal of Changshan Middle School, was a patriot who participated in the Northern Expedition during the Revolution. Later, dissatisfied with Chiang's behavior, he returned to his hometown and opened a middle school. After the Japanese army invaded China, Ma Yaonan was worried. In order to make more contributions to the anti-Japanese resistance, Ma Yaonan actively organized anti-Japanese propaganda in the school and contacted our party at the same time, hoping to arrange personnel to come to Changshan Middle School to organize the struggle.
It was in this context that Liao Rongbiao entered Changshan Middle School as a physical education teacher.
At Changshan Middle School, Liao Rongbiao, as one of the few cadres who understood the military, held guerrilla training classes under the cover of night schools to teach patriotic teachers, students, and young people basic military skills and knowledge.

On December 24, Changshan, Zibo and other places fell one after another, and Liao Rongbiao led more than 60 teachers and students who volunteered to participate in the anti-Japanese guerrilla struggle to prepare for the uprising in Heitieshan. On December 26, after many patriotic young people heard the news and came to defect, Liao Rongbiao declared an uprising at Taipingzhuang on the northern slope of the Black Iron Mountain.
He also established the Fifth Army of the Shandong Anti-Japanese Salvation Army, with Liao Rongbiao as its commander. At that time, the Fifth Army only had

【Black Iron Mountain Uprising Song】
After the establishment of the Fifth Army, it ambushed and raided the Japanese puppet army and its county towns and strongholds everywhere, winning victories again and again, striking at the arrogance of the Japanese army and strengthening its own strength. By the beginning of 1938,
The Fifth Army has developed into a unit
4500
Multiplayer teams. During this period, the Fifth Army killed a Japanese brigade commander in an ambush battle, which made the Fifth Army feel mighty.
It was dawn on January 19, 1938, and Liao Rongbiao received information that the Japanese army had motorboats or boats carrying out transport missions on the Xiaoqing River on the north side of the Jiaoji Railway every day. He analyzed that the Japanese army had just occupied Shandong, and it was a time when it was full of self-confidence. Coupled with the lack of grasp of the anti-Japanese armed forces in various parts of Shandong, the Japanese army was easy to take lightly and neglect to take precautions when transporting supplies, especially water transportation. Therefore, Liao Rongbiao decided to fight an ambush battle on the north side of Anjiazhuang on the xiaoqing River.
The river channel on the north side of Anjiazhuang was chosen because the river curved into a zigzag shape, the ships had to slow down when traveling here, and the vegetation on both sides of the river was dense and easy to hide. Liao Rongbiao arranged for the warriors in advance, blocked the way across the river with two wooden boats, and then led more than 40 fighters to ambush on both sides of the river.
【Location of Xiaoqinghe Ambush】
The bitter cold of the midwinter made the ambushed warriors shiver with their teeth. From dawn until noon, there were no Japanese ships coming, and the soldiers were worried about whether the Japanese would not come. At this moment, a Japanese motorboat came from upstream. No sooner had the motorboat slowed down into a corner than it was stopped by a wooden boat.
Two Japanese soldiers came out of the cabin to investigate, and Liao Rongbiao immediately ordered "Fight!" At one point, fighters on both sides of the strait opened fire on the motorboats and killed the two Japanese soldiers who came out to investigate on the spot. The Japanese troops in the airboat saw this and wanted to turn around and escape. Liao Rongbiao immediately jumped on the motorboat with several soldiers and threw several grenades in a row, blowing up the motor of the motorboat. The devils on the motorboat saw that they could not drive the boat to escape, some jumped into the river to escape, and some were still stubbornly resisting in the cabin.
The diving Japanese were killed by the soldiers of the Fifth Army, and the Japanese troops on board were also bombarded by two earthen guns and sank into the river along with the motorboats.
Liao Rongbiao had some regrets, and his elaborate water ambush battle was not only not captured, but also killed only a few Japanese troops. Unexpectedly, there were news reports in the Japanese-occupied area later,
This ambush was killed
12
There were brigade commanders, wing commanders, and senior staff officers.
This unexpected result greatly inspired the Fifth Army up and down, and the story of the ambush battle was also compiled into the primary school language textbooks of the Shandong Anti-Japanese Base Area, which became a vivid teaching material to encourage the military and the people to resist Japan.
