During the Red Army, he served as the head of the Security Bureau, and he made a big mistake, so why did he become a founding general? What kind of person is he?
Zhou Chunquan, born in 1905 in Hong'an County, Hubei Province, grew up in a poor family. At the age of 12, he studied at Wuchang Model Primary School, worked as a worker in a weaving factory at the age of 16, and joined the workers' movement led by the Communist Party of China, officially joining the Communist Party of China in 1926. In 1927, Zhou Chunquan was elected a member of the peasant government, participated in the jute uprising, and in 1930, served as the director of the Eyu-Anhui Security Bureau.
In 1931, Zhang Guotao came to the Eyu-Anhui Revolutionary Base Area, when Zhou Chunquan was still the head of the Security Bureau, and it was at this time that he made the biggest mistake of his life.
After Zhang Guotao arrived, Zhou Chunquan resolutely supported Zhang Guotao and killed many revolutionary cadres. Among them was Cheng Xunxuan, the wife of General Xu Qianqian. After 5 years of the incident, when Xu Xiangqian had painstakingly evaded Ma Jiajun's pursuit and found that his wife had been tortured by the Security Bureau to extract a confession and was finally killed, Xu Xiangqian was deeply saddened and asked Zhou Chunquan: "Why did you kill my wife?" What is her sin? Zhou Chunquan could only tell the truth: "She is not guilty, and she was arrested at that time just to get your materials." After listening, Xu Xiangqian was silent, and he was sad for his wife who died to protect himself.
Images of torture like this usually only appear in the Japanese military police or the Secret Bureau of the Kuomintang, and it is really unbelievable that such a thing should appear in the revolutionary ranks. Also persecuted were Xu Jishen, Zeng Zhongsheng, and others.
In 1932, Zhou Chunquan served as the political commissar of the Red Fourth Front, and moved west with the main army of the Red Army. In 1935, he participated in the Long March, and in 1936, he served as the director of the Political Department of the Red Fourth Front, and after the Arrival of the Red Army in northern Shaanxi, he went to the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University to study.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Zhou Chunquan served as the director of the Life Committee of the Students of northern Shaanxi Province, and in 1939, he became the sub-president of the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University. After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Zhou Chunquan served as the general manager of the Northeast Coal and Iron Company, and in 1949, he became the director of the Logistics Department of the Fourth Field Army, responsible for logistics. In 1950, when the Korean War broke out, he served as a former commander of the Chinese Volunteer Army and became a political commissar during the Korean War.
In 1955, he was awarded the title of Founding General and appointed Head of the Supervision Department of the Armed Forces.
He died in Beijing in 1985.
Throughout Zhou Chunquan's life, he made a big mistake in the first half of his life, and did his best for the country in the second half of his life. In that special period, there were also people who corrected their mistakes in time after making the same mistakes as him and reused them, such as Bogu.
