Xiao Lu, head of Tesla's northwest region, said that the Urumqi Tesla Center is an important starting point for Tesla to develop a service network in Xinjiang, not only providing one-stop services for local consumers, but also continuing to spread the green environmental protection concept of "energy saving and carbon reduction" to the northwest region.

The Urumqi Tesla Center is Tesla's first store in Xinjiang, the 11th store in the northwest region, and the 211th store in the country, covering Chinese mainland 60 cities. The new store is located at No. 1725 Zhenxing East Road, Midong District, Urumqi, Xinjiang, which is also the largest automobile city in Xinjiang. Covering an area of 1,620 square meters, the Tesla Center in Urumqi provides pre-sales consultation, scheduled test drive, new car testing, insurance consultation, pro-license processing, after-sales maintenance and other services for consumers in Urumqi and surrounding areas in Xinjiang.

Official data show that the current number of new energy vehicles in Xinjiang is close to 50,000, and the sales of new energy vehicles in Urumqi in the first seven months of 2021 have also achieved a substantial year-on-year increase of 298.29%. In addition to the Urumqi Tesla Center, which opened this time, Tesla has also opened 11 stores in Xi'an, Lanzhou, Yinchuan and other places. In addition, Tesla has built 2 super charging stations and 14 super charging piles in Urumqi, and in the whole territory of Xinjiang, Tesla has built and opened 7 super charging stations and 36 super charging piles, with 6 destination charging stations and 12 destination charging piles, ensuring the charging experience of car owners.

At the end of 2020, the domestic section of Tesla's "Silk Road" charging line was fully connected. The line runs west from Xi'an to Urumqi, spanning 2,600 kilometers, with 11 Tesla charging stations on the way, including 8 Tesla supercharger stations in Jiuquan, Hami and Urumqi, and in June 2021, the supercharger station in Khorgos, Xinjiang was officially opened. In August 2021, Tesla's "Northwest Grand Loop" charging line was fully unblocked.
