In order to safely evacuate the wounded comrades, the five decided to use themselves as bait to lead the Japanese troops to the cliff. In the fight with the Japanese, they killed more than 50 Japanese, and later heard that the Japanese army was going to capture them alive, and the five decided to jump off the cliff.
Fortunately, God took care of it, and two of the old heroes were caught by branches and survived. One of them was named Ge Zhenlin, and according to him, he was seriously injured after being caught by a tree branch, and he was raised for a long time in a fellow countryman's home before returning to the army. After returning to the army, the old man still stubbornly fought in the front line of the anti-Japanese war, and after the founding of New China, he also participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
The patriotic spirit and indomitable revolutionary will of this old hero are very admirable. Although he was awarded the National Medal of Merit for the Red Star, second class, he has always been very low-key, rarely talking to people about his past experiences in his youth, and even his son does not know that his father has died nine times to defend the country. In 2005, Ge Zhenlin died of illness, and neighbors came to mourn the death of this old hero who had died nine times in the War of Resistance Against Japan and made great contributions.
