AMD, OnePlus, and MSI also canceled the CES live display

More big companies are canceling field plans for CES 2022. CNET noted that both AMD and OnePlus had withdrawn their entity presence in this technical activity. While they didn't provide a detailed explanation, the move was clearly in response to the rise of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 and the corresponding surge in new cases. The company said in a statement that for everyone's health "best interests," AMD is changing its face-to-face transactions to virtual transactions.

AMD, OnePlus, and MSI also canceled the CES live display

AMD is ready to launch its 2022 offerings with a live broadcast on Jan. 4. OnePlus said it would launch the OnePlus 10 Pro in January, which was rumored to be released at CES.

These companies have joined a number of major brands that have withdrawn from actually participating in CES, including Amazon, AT&T, General Motors, Google, Intel, Lenovo, Meta, Microsoft and T-Mobile. Other companies have focused on virtual displays, such as NVIDIA. As of press time, LG, Samsung and Sony are still committed to this.

CES organizers — the Consumer Technology Association — are still planning a live event and believe its health and safety measures are sufficient to protect attendees. It also downplayed the wave of departures, noting that as of Dec. 23, there were more new entrants than cancelers. But things have changed in recent days, with more focus on the size of the company than on pure quantity — and if star attractions are nowhere to be found, that wouldn't represent a renaissance at CES.

MSI also canceled its CES campaign in 2022. You'll have to watch the company's "Gameverse" event on January 4, or visit its virtual exhibition space from January 5 to January 8.
