MSI VIGOR GK50 Low Profile TKL Mechanical Keyboard Brief Review

MSI's GK50 series has been spun out in several versions, covering the entry-to-mid-market range. The Low Profile version is special, aiming at the ultra-thin and lightweight field from beginning to end, while making this keyboard portable.

The ultra-thin, flattened, combined with obtuse angled polylines all over the fuselage, creates a futuristic technological feel for the VIGOR GK50 Low Profile TKL. GK50 Low Profile TKL is a standard 87-row mechanical keyboard with a floating shaft structure, compared to the 104-equipped GK50 Low Profile, the former is significantly more suitable for carrying out. The upper keyboard cover features a silver brushed metal panel that reinforces the body and enhances the texture and grade of the keyboard. There is also MSI's Dragon Shield totem on the arrow keys, and the front sides of the face are directly angled so as not to make the keyboard look sharp. The indicator light is also cool, embedded directly next to the panel, covered by a small piece of black semi-transparent PC decoration, and the indicator light can be synchronized with the RGB light effect of the keyboard.

The FN layer function keys are arranged almost on the right side, which means that multimedia, keyboard RGB lighting effects, brightness and animation speed can be controlled with one hand. In order to link with its own software ecology, the F1 key FN layer of GK50 Low Profile TKL can call out Afterburner software (you need to download Afterburner in advance).

The bottom of the keyboard is layered, although it seems to have a U-shaped guide slot loop, but as a USB cable cable slot, it is not very reasonable, and it is simply used to create a visual effect of the game keyboard. The location of the USB interface is very deep, and the opening section is small, which has certain compatibility requirements for third-party USB cable connectors.

Keycap shaft body

The keyboard is equipped with Kaihua's Choc sound paragraph short axis, the sense of passage is not strong, but due to the torsion spring sound structure, it can be understood as "dwarf blue axis". Kaihua's official data shows that this shaft body has an operating force of 50gf, a trigger stroke of 1.5mm, the total stroke is doubled to 3.0mm, and the click life reaches 50 million times.

Generally using a metal panel of mechanical keyboard, it is difficult to avoid cavity sound, especially the keyboard with a relatively compact internal space, will not do any special remedies to suppress the cavity sound, but the torsion sound of the Kaihua Choc low shaft can completely cover the less obvious cavity sound, and the use of the hand naturally does not mind.

GK50 Low Profile TKL's big key, if the spacebar is pressed from both ends, there will be a noticeable sense of flesh, the performance is not good enough, the other few are not unexpected, do not pull the crotch.

Software-driven

Users familiar with MSI Center know that this software can only set macros for MSI peripherals by default, and if you want to play with lights, you must install the "Glare Effect" module. Once installed, you can control MSI's peripherals and hardware lighting at the same time. Unless there is a need for custom lighting or macro settings, downloading MSI Center is of little use.

Lighting effects

Word transparency + suspension structure, its RGB lighting effect performance is still quite good, sufficient brightness, dynamic and smooth, and can be switched directly through the preset FN key combination to switch the light effect mode, very rich. And because of the upper lamp position, some of the keys with upper and lower characters, the lower character will inevitably be dimmed.

Write at the end

The net weight of 525g and the height of the fuselage of 34mm are the advantages of VIGOR GK50 Low Profile TKL, with a mouse, mouse pad and headphones, even less than 1KG, excellent portability, is it not easy to travel in a backpack? If the three-mode version is made one day, the scope of application is wider.
