Yang Zhicheng was born in Guizhou, there are many mountains in Guizhou, the poor family grabbed a large number, Yang Zhicheng's family conditions were very difficult, when he was not yet born, his father died, relying on his mother to raise several children alone.
It is said that the children of poor families have long been in charge, Yang Zhicheng has been particularly sensible since childhood, and his academic performance is particularly excellent, at the age of 14, he was admitted to the Guizhou Provincial Jiake Agricultural School, and later joined the Sichuan-Dianqian United Army as a quartermaster, and in 1926 he went to Guangdong with the coalition army and was admitted to the Whampoa Military Academy.
Yang Zhicheng, who came from the Whampoa Military Academy, was bent on displaying his talents through fighting, but the world was unpredictable, Yang Zhicheng was later injured in the abdomen in a battle, coupled with the previous old wounds, and could not continue to kill the enemy on the front line, so he had to transfer to logistics work.
It has to be said that Yang Zhicheng's talent in logistics management was very high, and under the condition of extreme shortage of materials at that time, Yang Zhicheng only took a year or so to solve the logistics, supply, and medical problems of the Red Army, which greatly facilitated the daily life and work of the Red Army.
Yang Zhicheng also found an important problem: at that time, most of the soldiers wore very torn clothes, and these fighters came from all directions, and the clothes they wore were all kinds of clothes, and the colors were also colorful and very irregular. As a result, Yang Zhicheng took the initiative to take on the heavy responsibility of designing and producing the first set of clothing of the Red Army.
Yang Zhicheng and the personnel of the Quartermaster Department discussed together and designed several styles of military uniforms, and after the review and approval of the chairman, Zhu Laozong and other leaders, they finally determined such military uniforms: octagonal military hats embellished with five-star hat emblems; the tunic was zhongshan style, two lower pockets, the neckline was embellished with a red collar badge, and the collar was inlaid with a black edge; the pants were ordinary styles, with leggings.
In order to make this batch of military uniforms as soon as possible, Yang Zhicheng raised 50,000 yuan, established a temporary quilt factory, and gathered many tailors. After everyone's efforts, the Red Army finally put on its new uniform and looked brand new.
Because of Yang Zhicheng's great contributions to logistics, he was known as the "father of logistics" of our army and the first "great steward" of the Red Army.
In the Long March of the Red Army, Yang Zhicheng's logistical work also played a great role, when climbing the snowy mountains, Yang Zhi became a guarantee that the soldiers could eat, collected grain in advance, and also raised a lot of fur and shochu to resist the wind and cold. When it was time to cross the meadow, Yang Zhicheng tried his best to raise 1.15 million catties of grain.
You must know that in the difficult and long Long March, perseverance alone is far from enough, if there is no Yang Zhicheng prepared grain and other materials in advance, the Red Army Long March will be even more difficult.
After joining the Red Army, Yang Zhicheng passed by the door several times without returning home, and even did not see his mother for the last time. After learning of his mother's death, Yang Zhicheng was very sad and wrote a pair of bangs to send home, which read: "Eight thousand miles of long march, serving the country is to repay the mother." Forty years of loss of ambition, the godson is also a teacher. ”
In 1955, Yang Zhicheng was awarded the rank of general, but he felt ashamed and said: "I have worked hard in the decades of the revolution, but compared with other comrades-in-arms, I may not have done enough." Almost all of the other soldiers who were awarded the title of general served as corps commanders and political commissars in the Liberation War, and I was not a commander or political commissar, but I was also awarded the rank of general, and I am ashamed. ”
