On December 29, the National Art Museum of China held a unique "Portrait of olympic champions" activity in the public education space, drawing the image of Chinese champions with paintbrushes and showing the Olympic spirit with Chinese style.

The National Art Museum of China invited artists Li Yang, Shang Ke and Huang Huasan to paint portraits of Wang Liping, the women's 20 km race walk champion at the 27th Sydney Olympic Games, Gao Leng, the badminton mixed doubles champion at the 27th Sydney Olympic Games and the 28th Athens Olympic Games, and Zhang Xiangxiang, the men's weightlifting 62 kg champion at the 29th Beijing Olympic Games.

Wu Weishan, director of the National Art Museum of China, introduced that the National Art Museum of China has 130,000 works of fine art, many of which are sports themes, such as the Chinese painting "Before the Decisive Battle", which expresses the spirit of the women's volleyball team, and the sculpture work "Towards the World", which shows Chinese athletes standing on the world-class competitive stage, etc., which will be presented in the "Winter Olympics, Beauty in Pursuit of Dreams - Exhibition of Sports-themed Art Works collected by the National Art Museum of China"; at the same time, it also actively organizes outstanding artists across the country to create fine art works on the theme of the Olympic Games.

Artists wield their brushes like athletes in the athletic field, where art and sports collide with a new spark. "We must integrate the creation of beauty with the Olympic spirit and create new cultural wealth for world civilization." Wu Weishan said.

The National Art Museum of China will also systematically promote the combination and creation of contemporary art and sports through exhibitions, publications, aesthetic education and other means. Wu Weishan said that this is not only an opportunity to carry forward the Olympic spirit, but also an opportunity for the multi-civilizational world to better understand Chinese art and the Chinese spirit.
