Meet lingnan intangible cultural heritage - Cantonese opera, "southern red beans" is the most Cantonese rhyme!

Red light substrate, falling flowers in the sky

On the stage,

The actors are dressed in costumes,

Painted with heavy makeup

Pick up your fingers,

Move your feet lightly and flick your long sleeves

Singing: Falling flowers cover the sky with moonlight,

Borrow a cup of phoenix on the table.......

Recently, the Research Center for Intangible Culture of Sun Yat-sen University hosted the Academic Forum on Cantonese Opera Inheritance and Theoretical Innovation and the launch of four new books.

A high song, a low chant to the love and hate between Princess Changping and Zhou Shixian. What they sang on the stage was the classic Cantonese opera play "Emperor Girl Flower". The "Xiang Yao" of "Emperor Girl Flower" sent to "Makeup Table QiuSi" is sung to everyone, and even people who do not understand Cantonese opera will hum a few words.

Cantonese opera has a strong Lingnan character, which is mainly reflected in the singing in Cantonese. Cantonese retains a large number of Elements of Old Chinese, with as many as nine tones. In the words of Professor Huang Tianji, self-contained and self-defeating; Cantonese opera performance artist Ni Huiying said that Cantonese comes with its own melody. In addition, the tone of Cantonese is low, especially the Yangping character is much lower than that of "drama studio official dialect" (referring to the ancient common Central Plains official dialect), so it has the characteristics of thick bass, heavy nasal tone, and strong sound. All these give Cantonese opera a natural personalized singing voice and unique beauty.

As a cultural and artistic treasure of Lingnan, Cantonese opera has a strong Lingnan character, and its historical heritage such as complex and ancient art forms and precious repertoire has gradually been obliterated with the passage of time. For various reasons, it is particularly urgent to collect and sort out Cantonese opera materials, establish archives and file cases, and conduct research.

The reporter was pleased to learn that in order to rescue the historical materials of Cantonese opera and organize the formation of authoritative teaching materials for Cantonese opera performing arts, the compilation project of the five-volume "Cantonese Opera Performing Arts Encyclopedia" launched by the Propaganda Department of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism in 2017 was edited by Cantonese opera performance artist Ni Huiying, and the "singing volume" and "doing the scroll" have been published, and other volumes are in full swing.
