In order to continue the cultural context of Guangfu, from 2022 onwards, Guangdong Provincial Zhongshan Library will launch a Cantonese reading club to lead children to learn and speak Cantonese, feel the traditional Chinese culture and humanistic spirit through the Cantonese environment, enhance the cultural feelings of children in the Greater Bay Area who love the motherland and love their hometown, and promote the inheritance and development of Cantonese culture.
As one of the seven major dialects of Chinese, Cantonese carries the distinct and prominent cultural heritage of Lingnan Guangfu. During the Spring Festival, the Cantonese Reading Club will show children and young people the New Year customs in Cantonese culture with the themes of "Cantonese Customs of Preparing for the New Year in the Waxing Moon" and "Greetings and Blessings on the Spring Festival in Cantonese".

In the activity, young readers and parents learned about the Spring Festival customs of Guangdong in many ways by understanding the intonation characteristics of Cantonese, the meaning of seasonal food, and learning to speak Cantonese auspicious words. "Make fried piles", "Xinghua Street" and "ChuLi is", the simple and elegant Cantonese dialect can not only accurately convey feelings and intentions, but also reflect the strong local customs and the expectations of the Guangdong people for a better life. On the sixth day of the Chinese New Year, children's readers came to the Children's Department of Guangdong Provincial Zhongshan Library located at No. 81 Wende North Road early, and in their happy and harmonious atmosphere, they learned to sing the Cantonese New Year classic song "Yingchun Flower" on the spot, and celebrated the New Year of the Tiger. The unique Cantonese reading meeting not only enhanced the understanding of traditional culture of the "Lao Guang" people, but also stimulated the interest of the "New Cantonese" people in learning Cantonese and felt the true charm of Cantonese culture.

In 2022, the Cantonese Reading Club will regularly launch different themes every month, focusing on different contents such as Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Chongyang Festival, fun after-rest language, etc., digging deep into the rich resources of Cantonese and traditional culture, showing children and young people's attitudes and cognition of Cantonese people to traditional festivals and daily life, fully feeling the unique meaning of Cantonese traditional culture, and experiencing the fun of diversified reading. Cantonese not only inherits a long historical tradition, but also keeps up with the changes of the times.
