What kind of person is the real fifth son of the Emperor, Yong Qi? How could it be related to the later Jiaqing Emperor?
The fifth son of the Emperor, Yongqi, was intelligent and studious since childhood, and at an early age, he was very proficient and proficient in archery on horseback, and also proficient in Manchu, Chinese and Mongolian. In addition, he is very proficient in astronomy, geography, solar calendar, and astronomical algorithms. It can be said that the upper astronomy and the lower understanding of geography are very powerful. He is also the author of a book on the astronomical calendar of the Banana Tree Manuscript, which has been passed down to later generations.
More importantly, in addition to his own intelligence and studiousness, Yongqi's adherence to filial piety was also seen by the Qianlong Emperor. One day in the twenty-eighth year of Qianlong (1763), Qianlong came due to many days of hard work, and rested in the Qingyan Palace of Kyushu on Hunan Island behind the Yuanmingyuan. At this time, suddenly the side hall caught fire, but it caught up with the windy weather, and the fire came very fiercely. The Qianlong Emperor, who was resting in the palace, was trapped in the fire. At that time, Prince Hongzhi, who accompanied the king, did not know where to run, and none of the princes dared to come close to save the car! Only Yongqi rushed into the sea of fire alone and personally carried Qianlong out.
This incident also shocked the qianlong emperor's heart in the morning, and then the next year, in November of the thirtieth year of Qianlong (1765), in the year when the Qing Dynasty allowed the canonization of the prince, Qianlong was the first to name Yongqi, who was only 24 years old, as "Prince Heshuo Rong"! You should know that in the Qing Dynasty, the word "Rong" is a very honorable title. Another prince in the history of the Qing Dynasty who received the word "Rong" was Concubine Dong, the beloved concubine of the Shunzhi Emperor in his life, who gave birth to the Shunzhi Emperor and died after only three months - the fourth son of the emperor! At that time, the Shunzhi Emperor originally wanted to posthumously award him the title of crown prince, but was blocked by empress Xiaozhuang at that time, and retreated to the second place to posthumously award the title of "Prince heshuorong", which shows the qianlong emperor's great love and expectations for the five brothers Yongqi!
However, in the second year of his canonization as the "Prince of Heshuorong", in March of the thirty-first year of Qianlong, Yongqi died of a serious illness. The "Prince of Heshuo Rong", Yongqi's burial place, was arranged in the miyun district of present-day Beijing. Fifty-eight years after Qianlong, the British envoy Magalni delegation visited China, and the British Empire negotiated trade and commerce with the Qing Empire. In the face of the British envoy Magorny, the Qianlong Emperor talked about the princes and said of the deceased Yongqi: "At that time, the fifth son of the emperor was more valuable among the sons, and the Things such as Chinese, Manchu, Mongolian, Horse Steps, Riding Archery, and Algorithms were all skillful, which was quite intentional, and showed that he was clear and died of illness. More than twenty years after Yongqi's death, the Qianlong Emperor once again mentioned such words, bluntly revealing that he wanted to pass on the throne and "Prince Heshuo Rong", which showed the Qianlong Emperor's love and nostalgia for Yongqi!
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, in order to ensure the water supply of the people in the capital, the government decided to build a reservoir in Miyun County. And the "Prince of Heshuo Rong", Yongqi's cemetery, is within the scope of the reservoir area. In order to ensure that cultural relics and monuments do not sink underwater, archaeologists have carried out rescue excavations. In the process of excavation, the construction of the cemetery is grand, and the specifications and quantities of funerary products are high and numerous, far beyond the ordinary prince cemetery, so experts say that they meet the specifications of the prince cemetery.
The excavated funerary utensils were all relocated to the current collection in the Capital Museum. This point also shows from the one hand that Qianlong did intend to let the "Prince Rong" inherit the meaning of the unification, on the other hand, it also confirmed that the "Prince Rong" at that time was the crown prince, and it was not out of thin air! According to the experts' remarks, we can infer that if Yongqi had not died early, perhaps qianlong would have inherited the throne after Qianlong, the "Prince of Rong" - Yongqi!
