Chen Qimei's status in the history of the Republic of China is very high, he was once one of Sun Yat-sen's right and left arms, and Huang Xing's status is comparable. And because Chen Qimei is a heroic and courageous person, he was praised by Cai Yuanpei as "the first hero of the Republic of China".
Chen Qimei and Chiang Kai-shek met when they were studying in Japan, and because the two were fellow Zhejiang compatriots and had a very opportunistic conversation, Chen Qimei introduced Chiang Kai-shek to join the League. Therefore, in a sense, Chen Qimei was Chiang Kai-shek's revolutionary guide.
After the outbreak of the Xinhai Revolution, Chen Qimei organized an uprising in Shanghai, and after his success, he was elected as the governor of the Shanghai Army. At this time, Chiang Kai-shek also returned to China, so he went to Chen Qimei and married Chen Qimei and Huang Hao as the "Jinlan Brothers". At that time, Shanghai was the financial center of the Far East, so the geographical location was very important, and it was related to the future of the revolution in the south. During the period when Sun Yat-sen was inaugurated as the provisional president, it was Chen Qimei's great help that made Sun Yat-sen smooth sailing. Because he helped Sun Yat-sen, Yuan Shikai regarded Chen Qimei as his enemy, and finally Yuan Shikai sent assassins to assassinate Chen Qimei, and after the assassination was successful, he threw his body on the street.
Because it was a secret agent who killed people, no one dared to collect the body. But Chiang Kai-shek was not afraid, and immediately rushed to the scene after hearing about it, and he cried loudly while holding Chen Qimei's body, and then retracted the body.
Because Chen Qimei had very strong leadership in Shanghai and Jiangsu and Zhejiang, the local Qing gangs, consortiums, and Beiyang warlords all lost confidence in the revolution because of his death, which directly led to the bleak future of the revolution in the Jiangnan region, and Sun Yat-sen was very disappointed in this, so he went to Guangzhou.
After Chen Qimei's death, Chiang Kai-shek soon rose to prominence, and in a sense, Chiang Kai-shek was used as a substitute for Chen Qimei to get Sun Yat-sen's weight. Chiang Kai-shek also did not forget Chen Qimei's kindness to his own knowledge, so he often called himself "the embodiment of Chen Qimei's martyrs."
