Followed by Mercedes, Audi, Honda... Skoda India will raise car prices by up to 3% from next month

Last week, automaker Skoda said it would raise prices for its entire product line by 3 percent from January 1, 2022, starting Jan. 1, 2022, including the Kushap (exclusive model for the Indian market), Kodiak (Kodiak), Octavia (Octavia) and other models sold in India.

Followed by Mercedes, Audi, Honda... Skoda India will raise car prices by up to 3% from next month

Zak Hollis, brand director of Skoda Automotive, said in a statement that the decision to raise prices from January 1, 2022, was due to rising production costs and increased operating costs, and despite macroeconomic challenges, the company is still trying to minimize the impact of price increases on customers.

Skoda isn't the only automaker to raise prices in the Indian market, as the rising prices of raw materials such as steel, aluminum, copper and precious metals have forced automakers to raise the price of their vehicles over the past year.

In India, automakers that have indicated price increases in the future include Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Honda, Renault, Suzuki and homegrown Tata motors.

Among them, Mercedes-Benz announced that it will increase the sales price of cars from January 2022, the increase will vary depending on the model, and the price increase of certain models will be as high as 2%. Audi said it will see prices for its entire model range increase by 3 percent from January 1, 2022, due to rising input and operating costs.

Honda Motor India said it was considering price increases in the near future, which had a serious impact on input costs due to higher commodity prices, and now the company is still figuring out how much it can digest. In August, Honda had already raised prices for models such as the Civic City in India.

Renault also said it was also considering raising prices starting in January, noting that prices for all of its models could rise "substantially."

Suzuki plans to increase prices by varying margins for different models starting in January 2022. It is understood that Suzuki has raised prices for different models 4 times in the Indian market this year.
