On the evening of December 22, BYD's fourth new car equipped with DM-i super hybrid system, Song Pro DM-i, was officially launched. After the subsidy, the price range of the new car is 134,800-15.98 million yuan, and a total of 5 models are launched, and two pure electric endurance versions of 51 km and 110 km are available. The new car is based on the second generation of Song Pro, and the power is consistent with the Song PLUS DM-i.

In terms of appearance design, the 2022 Song Pro DM-i follows the Dragon Face 3.0 family design language, and the front face adopts a new large-size "dragon mouth" grille design, supplemented by a large number of high-gloss materials and chrome-plated parts, highlighting the momentum. The "Song" logo adopts an embossed design, which is more exquisite and beautiful.
The 2022 Song Pro DM-i rear D-pillar area has also been decorated with silver "dragon scales" trim, which looks more refined and is also the embodiment of its personalization.
The interior of the 2022 Song Pro DM-i adopts a new family design language, and the surround center console design highlights the symmetrical aesthetic. And the use of a new unicorn brown + sky gray interior color, more youthful and vibrant.
The new car is equipped with an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 15.6-inch suspension adaptive rotation center control large screen, which enhances the atmosphere of science and technology. In addition, the 2022 Song Pro DM-i is equipped with a DiLink 4.0 (4G) intelligent network connection system, which is faster and more powerful, and the playability is higher in the later stage.
In terms of power performance, the new car is equipped with a DM-i hybrid system composed of a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine, an EHS electromix system, and a blade battery. Among them, the maximum power of the engine is 81kW, the peak torque is 135N·m, and the maximum thermal efficiency can reach 43.04%. According to different power configurations, the 2022 Song Pro DM-i is available in two models with a pure electric endurance of 51km and 110km, respectively, equipped with lithium iron phosphate blade batteries with a capacity of 8.3kWh and 18.3kWh, respectively.
The fuel consumption of the new car is as low as 4.4L/100km, the cruising range of full power and fuel is 1090km, and the fastest acceleration of 0-100km/h is 7.9 seconds.
We already had a new car test drive experience with the Song Pro DM-i earlier. Song Pro DM-i is very similar to the overall feeling of Song PLUS DM-i, thanks to the DM-i super hybrid system "mainly electricity, supplemented by the engine" working mode, Song Pro DM-i can bring a light power output, quiet and smooth driving experience.
Driving under urban conditions, the 2022 Song Pro DM-i is driven by an electric motor in most cases, and when there is a power loss, the engine will drive the generator to generate electricity and efficiently complete the recharge. Therefore, the driving texture of the new car is closer to that of the electric car.
At the beginning, the 2022 Song Pro DM-i is directly driven by the motor, and the power response is fast and direct. Every time you tap the accelerator, it will respond positively to your power needs, but it will not have the feeling of "sneaking out" when the pure tram starts, and it is linear enough.
When it is necessary to overtake at high speed, the moment of stepping on the throttle deeply, the engine will intervene in parallel with the motor to work together, which can quickly speed up to complete the overtaking action, and the power reserve of the middle and rear section of the 2022 Song Pro DM-i is sufficient.
In terms of sound and noise reduction, the 2022 Song Pro DM-i uses a large number of acoustic packages and sound insulation materials to further improve the quietness of the whole vehicle.
Compared with the fuel version of the model, the 2022 Song Pro DM-i is much quieter. At low speeds, it achieves a quiet experience similar to that of an electric car. However, the noise that spreads to the car at high speed will be more pronounced, and the main noise is due to tire noise and wind noise.
We also tested the noise level of the 2022 Song Pro DM-i in each speed segment of 40-120km/h, with noise in 40km/h being 55.9 dB, 80km/h being 60.5 dB, and 65.2 dB at 120km/h at high speed. It can be seen from the test results that the noise decibel value of the 2022 Song Pro DM-i in each speed band is well controlled.
In general, the 2022 Song Pro DM-i and the Song PLUS DM-i have a high degree of similarity in driving, and they are both comfortable and smooth, quiet and fuel-saving family car orientation.
In terms of competitors, models of the same level as Song Pro DM-i include Wei brand latte DHT, Geely Xingyue L hybrid and so on. BYD's DM-i super hybrid system can balance power smoothness and fuel economy, and is more advantageous in cost and price. Therefore, compared with the competitors, the more obvious advantage of the Song Pro DM-i is that the price of the entry-level model is lower, and the fuel consumption is also very good.
