
In the past few decades, especially in the past two or three decades, our Chinese nation has gradually improved its national situation, and great progress has been made in politics, economy, and military aspects, especially many people have quoted predictions from all sides that "the twenty-first century will be the century of Chinese", and we have watched the rise of China fever in the West, behind the Chinese fever, or the prospect of Chinese fever, after all, there is a kind of Chinese cultural fever as the foundation and homecoming. Therefore, some knowledgeable people have said that if the Chinese nation wants to rejuvenate, it must be based on the rejuvenation of the Chinese national culture as the ideological core, so this kind of national self-confidence that the Chinese nation wants to rejuvenate is also becoming more and more popular. But what is "revival"? I would like to talk about it from the interpretation of the text, especially the word "complex". "Xing" is relatively easy to understand, the use of the word "Xing" is also very ancient, Confucius said three hundred poems, said "poetry, can be xing, can be observed, can be group, can complain", the genre of poetry has "Fu Bi Xing", Xing is the most commonly used technique, what is "Xing"? When it comes to the rise of revival, we seem to have a sense of pride, in fact, there is a very strong tragedy in this, that is, why should we be prosperous? Because it's decaying. So now is the era of the decline of Chinese culture, and we have the consciousness of rejuvenation. The two words revival bring us a variety of feelings, we are in this era of decline, hope it rises, this "complex" has the meaning of "re", re-rise. Then we must know why it is declining, and at what point it is declining. Then we know why we are rising and where we are going to rise again.
Just now I said that "fu" means "re" and "again", but if we only talk about "again", we can't express the connotation of "revival" in full, so we will look at the word "fu" again. The meaning of "fu" was also used very early, in fact, its meaning was formed in the "fu gua" of the "I Ching", and we now say that the "fu" of revival is actually the meaning of "fu gua". "Fu Gua Gua" is very peculiar, even if people who do not know much about the I Ching Gua Painting, they will remember it when they talk about it, and they will always remember this Gua Gua. The I Ching uses gua paintings to express its affection and uses gua xiang to go deep into philosophy. Therefore, gua has "gua xiang", this gua xiang is formed by "gua painting", and gua painting is composed of "爻". "爻" is a stroke, each gua painting is composed of six "爻", "fu gua" of the gua painting, its six yao, the bottom one is "yang", the above five paintings are all "yin". One "yang" plus five "yin", the formation of this gua is called "compound gua". In Yi Gua, the growth of 爻 is from the bottom up, so from the bottom of the painting, the gua should talk about "qi", and this "gua qi" is upward. If we see this compound gua, if we know the so-called yin and yang, if we know the so-called gua elephant, he will be thrilled to see the compound gua! You see, the yang represents strength, represents light, and the symbol of strength and light is suppressed by the five yins, which are the opposite meanings, isn't that special?
So, which one should we pay attention to in this gua? Is it to pay attention to the five yins, or to pay attention to one yang? —— In the I Ching, less is precious, and less is the mainstay, so the main thing in this gua is very obvious, that is, the first one. The first one is under the five yin, what kind of inspiration does it give us? That is, masculinity will grow day by day. So the retribution is a triumph of hope. The ancients used the gua elephant to describe the changes in the twelve months of the year, and arranged the re-gua in November, which is the month of the winter solstice, so the re-gua also represents the winter solstice. Why? Our territory of China is in the northern hemisphere, so Chinese look at the sun, often in the south, to the day of the summer solstice, is the sun to China's closest day, after the summer solstice, the sun will gradually go south, away from China, after the autumn, to the winter, has been going south, China is getting colder, even in the ice and snow, the trees are withering, everything feels the invasion of cold, the vitality is getting weaker and weaker. Suddenly, one day, I found that the sun had stopped moving south, and it was back! This day of "coming back again" is called the "winter solstice", and the repetition represents the moment at twelve o'clock in the morning on the day of the winter solstice. If this moment symbolizes the movement of heaven and earth, it means that the light has not left us, the light has returned to the human world again, and the warmth has returned to the human world again. That's why we want to celebrate the winter solstice, do we celebrate the summer solstice? Nothing. If the people of the southern hemisphere, they will not celebrate our winter solstice, they will celebrate their winter solstice.
Therefore, the retribution represents the return of masculinity and light, and from this place we speak of "revival". The "Chuan Chuan" of Fu Gua once mentioned that Confucius explained The Fu Gua - said "Fu, the heart of seeing heaven and earth", and Fu Gua is the heart of benevolence that allows us to see the endless life of heaven and earth. Confucius also extended the symbol of fugua to heaven and earth to the symbol of human virtue, and in the "Genealogical Transmission", Confucius also said, "The son of Yan Shi, his death is almost!" There are unwholesomenesses that are not known; knowing them, they have not tasted the repetition of the deeds", using this sentence to explain the first of the repetitions. Confucius's previous classic explanation was called "not far away, no regrets, Yuan Ji", "not far away" is not far away, he replied; "no regrets", no big regrets; "Yuan Ji", this is a great auspicious dali. Confucius used Yan back to match the explanation of the first master, "The son of the Yan family, his death is almost", saying that one of the children of the Yan family, his studious and moral cultivation, has probably reached the point where he can be used as a model, why? "If there is unwholesomeness, he will not know", as soon as he has an unwholesome thought in his heart, he immediately perceives, "Knowing it, he has not tried to repeat it", he perceives his own unwholesomeness, he will not go to the unwholesome place again, he will return, to what? Return to goodness. To return to the good is to "return to the heart of heaven and earth", to return to the heart of heaven and earth, to return to the light of human nature.
If we look at "fu" from here, and "rejuvenation" from "fu", then we will have a deeper understanding of the word "rejuvenation", so revival is not retro, revival is not conformist, revival is not necessarily pedantic, revival is not feudal. Because it's compound what is compound? The restoration of heaven and earth is the restoration of light; the restoration of human nature is the restoration of morality. In modern terms, I would like to say that our restoration should be a return to human reason. When we talk about revival today, we say it with culture, called "cultural rejuvenation", what is "cultural rejuvenation"? Why "cultural renaissance"? We also need to have a little understanding of culture, what is "culture".
The word "culture" also comes from the I Ching, the I Ching "贲卦", the legend of 贲卦, "rigid and soft interlaced, astronomical also; civilization ends, humanities also." Look at the astronomy to observe the changes of the times; look at the humanities, so as to transform into the world." The interlacing of yin and yang is the expression of nature, we look at the performance of nature, these performances can stay in the human heart, be understood, carried forward by people, this is the creation of human beings, so the intersection of rigidity and softness is the performance of heaven and earth, and the light of the human heart is the performance of human beings, then "look at the astronomy", if we look at the performance of heaven and earth, we know that heaven and earth have four changes, a hundred things incarnate, if we "look at humanities", we experience human creation, we can "become the world". That is to say, if we know that man can be considerate of the heart of heaven and earth, and that man has the yearning and decision of his own future, he can enlighten life. This enlightenment life can be boundless and boundless, can be thousands of years, and this forms a tradition of enlightenment, which is the indoctrination of "humanity", and it is not the indoctrination of "astronomy". Therefore, "humanistic indoctrination" is referred to as "culture", which is considerate from human nature, and where there is humanity, there is culture, or that everyone will be moved by culture and rise, generation after generation, becoming a cultural tradition.
If culture comes from this way, we can say that culture is "human virtue and heavenly virtue", and it can also be said that it is developed from the source of human nature, and the wisdom that human beings should have, the wisdom that human beings should have, must be able to influence all generations. There are many peoples in the world, but some peoples have no cultural traditions, because without the appearance of so-called sages, that is, figures who have not developed wisdom, he cannot create civilization, and without the creation of civilization, it is impossible to have cultural traditions. We are very fortunate that we were born as descendants of the Chinese nation, our ancestors were wise, and our ancestors were created by people and heavenly virtues. Our nation has wisdom, and if this wisdom is the wisdom of human virtue and heavenly virtue, it is eternal wisdom. Wisdom is eternal, wisdom does not change with each passing day, seeing is seeing. When we talk about the revival of culture now, we must think about why this is called the era of cultural decline, and we must ask, where is our current morality? Do we have virtue now, and is this virtue in harmony with heavenly virtue?
