Zhihu responded to being interviewed by the Cyberspace Administration of China: Resolutely implement the rectification requirements

On December 20, "Cyberspace Beijing" released a message saying that recently, the State Internet Information Office instructed the Beijing Municipal Internet Information Office to interview the person in charge of Zhihu Network in accordance with the law, and in response to the repeated occurrence of information prohibited by laws and regulations on Zhihu Network, it was ordered to immediately rectify and seriously deal with relevant responsible persons in accordance with the Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China.

The relevant responsible person of the Beijing Municipal Internet Information Office stressed that website platforms shall earnestly perform their main responsibilities, improve the network information security management system, and must not provide a dissemination platform for information that violates laws and regulations. The Beijing Municipal Internet Information Office will further urge relevant website platforms to strengthen internal management, carry out services in accordance with laws and regulations, and maintain a clear cyberspace.

In this regard, Zhihu responded to Zinc Finance and Economics that it sincerely accepts the criticism of the competent departments, resolutely implements the rectification requirements, improves the management system such as information release review, public information inspection, and emergency disposal, earnestly fulfills the main responsibility, continuously improves the level of ecological governance, and contributes to the construction of network civilization.

At present, Zhihu has turned off the comment function. All content comment areas are displayed: During the upgrade of the comment area function, it is temporarily impossible to send comments, and you can use the "Approve and Recommend" function to participate in the interaction.

In recent years, the knowledge quiz platform is losing its original color due to commercial exploration, resulting in frequent violations of problems, so the relevant national regulatory departments have also begun to strike hard.

Not long ago, the Cyberspace Administration of China interviewed the person in charge of Douban. From January to November 2021, the Cyberspace Administration of China imposed 20 disposal penalties on Douban, with a total of 9 million yuan in fines.

In November this year, Sheng Ronghua, deputy director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, said that the Cyberspace Administration of China requires key platforms such as Zhihu, Douban, Weibo Q&A, Wukong Q&A, Knowledge Planet, etc. to implement the main responsibility, supervise and guide them to improve the platform content security management system, improve user account management, content distribution, public reporting and other mechanisms, and timely clean up all kinds of illegal information and accounts. In the next step, we will further urge relevant platforms to continue to optimize the rules for the operation of platform functions, strengthen topic setting and content review, encourage the production and dissemination of positive, healthy, upward and benevolent information content, and improve the quality of platform content and service levels.
