There are even people who can go to the Mogao Caves for several years for art, come to this desert corner alone to repair the faded Buddha's light, engage in this tedious and boring mural restoration work, endure loneliness and temptation, and do their best like the craftsmen. This person is the artist Fu Yufeng we are going to talk about today.

Fu Yufeng, lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts of Zhengzhou University, member of the China Artists Association, assistant teacher of the Wu Jian Tutor Studio of Chinese Painting of Peking University, researcher of the Mural Research Institute of Shanxi Painting Academy, painter of Beijing Yizhen Painting Academy, painter of Youth Painting Academy of China Ink Painting Academy, deputy director of Landscape Painting Art Committee of Zhengzhou Artists Association. From 2006 to 2010, he worked at the Dunhuang Research Institute, engaged in the restoration of ancient murals; in 2010, he was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts of Zhengzhou University to pursue a master's degree, and his mentor, Mr. Wu Jian, stayed on as a teacher after graduation; and in 2013, he studied at the He Jialin Studio of the National Academy of Painting. In 2016, he participated in the "National Art Fund - Shanxi Mural Heavy Color Talent Training Project". In 2017, he participated in the "National Arts Fund - Mural Imitation Technique Training Project". In 2018, he was a visiting scholar and tutor of the China Academy of Arts, Mr. Chen Mengxin.

Yes, many of Fu Yufeng's works reflect the excitement and fusion of poetry and mysticism, elite and folklore, tradition and modernity. These are inseparable from his work experience. In Fu Yufeng's landscape paintings, you can feel the profundity of traditional Chinese painters. These explorations have always regarded ancient frescoes as an important source of inheritance of tradition. His blending between the boundaries of objects and the color gamut achieves the ultimate naturalness and harmony in the sense of form.
Teacher Fu Yufeng is born free, unwilling to imitate deliberately, often face the original work by heart and painting, over time found that this method gives him the space for free thinking and a lot of practice, so over the years, from the mural to understand a lot of artistic creation methods and laws, in his nearly thirty works, although paper but with the genes of the mural, so called it "paper mural", but this is not the mural to the paper such a simple material replacement, but his way of thinking about the inheritance of traditional murals, The process and trajectory of the exploration of artistic creation.
Today we invited teacher Fu Yufeng to create a heavy color landscape around the "Emperor" character "Early White Imperial City".
The word "emperor" has the meaning of monarch, emperor, three emperors and five emperors. "Early White Emperor City" is a poem written by the Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai: "Between the clouds of the White Emperor, a thousand miles of Jiangling will return in one day." The apes on both sides of the strait could not stop crying, and the light boat had already passed through the Ten Thousand Heavy Mountains. In the poem, the former site of the White Emperor City is on the Baidi Mountain in present-day Fengjie County, Chongqing City, about 1,200 miles from the White Emperor City to Jiangling, including 700 miles and three gorges. The peaks on both sides of the strait are quite beautiful, the mountains are like Dai, the nine curved intestines in the gorge, the boats are in the middle, quite a sense of "curved water and quiet", and the scenery on both sides of the strait is like a landscape and water painting that is suitable for each other.
Speaking of the word "emperor", Teacher Fu naturally thought of this poem created by Li Bai, which was that Li Bai was exiled to the White Emperor City, and was fortunate to be pardoned, and then took a boat back to his hometown. Because of the beautiful scenery, he created this poem by Feeling.
When painting this painting, Teacher Fu stressed the need to highlight the pleasant scenery on both sides of the Three Gorges. The teacher first drew the ancient trees on the cliffs on both sides, and the symbols about the trees could be created according to the needs of the picture, and the pen should be written and as clean as possible.
After that, the teacher painted some reefs in the river to highlight the rugged landform of the Three Gorges, and the teacher carved some waves on the stones on the shore to show the turbulence of the water. The mountains on both sides of the river should be painted with a lush feeling, and in the upper part of this picture, some clouds need to be arranged, and some distant mountains need to be exposed above the clouds to highlight the sense of layering.
The left side depicts a very dense tree, the right side needs to generalize a little to do subtraction, and when painting, it will be slightly flat, and the contrast will be beautiful. The green of the distant mountains on the top should have some changes, some are a little higher in purity, and some are slightly lower in purity, and the sense of layering is fully displayed. As for the river, Teacher Fu painted it blue, on the one hand, but in the use of color, it will be very coordinated to use a similar color as a base. On the other hand, on the screen, if the river is painted blue, it can have a role in highlighting the main body.
Then you can outline the distant mountains and find another echo, the tree and the cloud shape according to the potential, and then the place where there is a cloud is double-checked, appearing more virtual. Because the right side of the whole picture is relatively heavy, the teacher chooses to drop the money on the left side and then stamp a stamp on the upper right to echo it.
As a whole, a large mountain stone on the left side of this work uses a sparse treatment, while the river on the right and the trees on both sides form a dense rhythm, forming a strong dense relationship on the left and right sides of the picture.
