The war of self-defense and counterattack against Vietnam is a war to defend the country and the closest war our country has waged. In this war, the strength of our army far exceeds that of Vietnam, and it can be said that there is no problem in occupying all of Vietnam. However, due to the achievement of the strategic objectives, our army withdrew after occupying the important town of Lang Son in northern Vietnam. In the process of conquering Lang Son, the Vietnamese army actually saw that they could not defend Lang Shan and used chemical weapons, which made Xu Shiyou angrily order: Lang Shan is not allowed to stay in a room!
After the end of the Vietnam War, victory over the United States and support for the Soviet Union made the small country of Vietnam more and more inflated. Under the cover of artillery fire, 500,000 people's troops drove straight in and occupied 11 towns on the Vietnamese border in just two days, and the capture of Lang Son, an important town in northern Vietnam, seemed just around the corner.
However, at Lang Son, the PLA encountered fierce resistance, and the Vietnamese army was very well equipped, in addition to the capture from the United States, there were a large number of Soviet-made weapons. Vietnamese soldiers who had just experienced the Vietnam War were familiar with fighting, but the Platon Army had not experienced a war for a long time. However, under the fierce artillery fire of our army, the Vietnamese army was gradually defeated. Seeing that Lang Son could not be defended, the Vietnamese army actually used chemical weapons prohibited by international prohibition, injuring a large number of PLA fighters.
This move of the Vietnamese army infuriated the commander of the front line, Xu Shiyou, who immediately ordered that "no house in Lang Son can be left", so the People's Liberation Army took advantage of the artillery and launched an overwhelming bombardment of Lang Son and successfully conquered Lang Son. The Vietnamese dream of being the "world's third military power" was shattered, and our army successfully withdrew to the country after achieving its strategic objectives.
