On February 17, 1979, our army began to counterattack against Vietnam, and by March 16, the withdrawal of troops returned to China, which was the end of the first phase of the war, but from the moment the self-army returned home, the Vietnamese army made some small moves on the border, which continued to friction, and later developed into a two-mountain round war, which was fought until 1989.
During this decade, some Vietnamese officers and soldiers, unable to bear the brutal rule of the Le Thanh clique, chose to turn to the light, and according to the records of the foreign military shelter of the Political Department of the Guangzhou Military Region, a total of 48 Vietnamese troops were taken in. Of these, 10 were officers, 14 were non-commissioned officers, 21 were soldiers and 3 were militiamen.
After interrogation, it was learned that they had gone to our country to live a good life, but the reasons that prompted them to take this step were different, and they could be summarized into five categories.

The first is dissatisfaction with the ethnic policy of the Vietnamese authorities, not to mention that Vietnam's territorial area is not large, there are many ethnic groups, there are 54 in total, and China's territory is more than 30 times that of them, and it is only two more than them.
The main ethnic group in Vietnam is the Jing ethnic group, and the policy is mainly to protect the Jing ethnic group, but in the Vietnamese army, the proportion of ethnic minority officers and soldiers is not low. The officers and men of the minority nationalities obviously did the same thing, or even better, but it was always the Jing people who were promoted, and such suppression made the officers and men of the ethnic minorities very dissatisfied.
Moreover, Vietnam's ethnic minorities generally live on the Sino-Vietnamese border and are greatly influenced by China, so they simply turn to China. Another deputy political officer is a clear example, because his family lives on the Border between China and Vietnam, he was suspected by the Vietnamese authorities of pro-China signs, has been deliberately suppressed, and later forced to recover, after the recovery and then no work arrangements, so he finally came to China.
The first category is to live a better life, and before the counterattack against Vietnam began, Vietnam was still very powerful, with the assistance of China and the Soviet Union, and the living standards of its people were also good. However, after the Lê Sun clique blindly ransomed the army and took control of Laos, while fighting Cambodia, it also provoked China, and eventually forced the People's Liberation Army to go south.
The two-front war is the most draining of national strength, and Vietnam has not been reunified for a long time, and there is no foundation to squander it for him. The People's Liberation Army has not been in its territory for a long time, but it has destroyed most of the industrial facilities in northern Vietnam, and if the Vietnamese authorities can recognize the way to go, the people will not be so bitter, but he will not withdraw his troops from Cambodia and continue to rub with the Chinese border, and there is no way to restore people's livelihood. More than 80% of the country's strategic materials were aided by the Soviet Union.
The money was also all on the Soviet Union, which alone received $1.97 billion in military aid between 1978 and 1980. By 1985, Vietnam owed the Soviet Union $5 billion, and of course, Vietnam had no money to pay it back, and the Soviet Union was embarrassed to urge it.
There is a big brother blood transfusion, but it can barely be maintained, the problem is that later the big brother himself can not hold up. Afghanistan, an imperial graveyard, plunged the Soviet Union into it, and slowly "cut off" supplies to Vietnam.
This is vietnam's old life, time is used to fight, there is no consideration of people's livelihood, Vietnam is an agricultural country, grain is all imported, now there is no money, the people and ordinary soldiers can only tighten their pants and belts to live.
Vietnam, which had a per capita income of less than $100 in 1985 and was considered by the United Nations to be one of the poorest countries in the world, also cut off the subsidies for demobilized soldiers that year, causing extreme dissatisfaction among military personnel. There was no way, there was no money, not to mention the demobilized soldiers, even the soldiers on the front line ate rice that was brown and mixed with sand, and the edema and debilitating disease slowly spread in the Vietnamese military camp.
In this case, how can the Vietnamese soldiers not envy the opposite China? At that time, China had embarked on the road of rapid development through reform and opening up, which was a stark contrast to the deteriorating situation in Vietnam, so 16 people came to China because they wanted a better life.
One is the persecution of relatives in the family, as mentioned above, Vietnam's economy is very bad, the government can not put its hand to the people, stipulating that each family should hand over poultry in proportion, a vietnamese public security school student is because of the family's poverty, his father can not meet the target of surrender, was killed by the police. So he killed two police officers in one fell swoop and ran to China.
One is to be grateful for China's goodness and want to go back to the era of the original comrades, China was really benevolent to Vietnam at the beginning, the rice that gave them assistance is difficult to count, send people and money to help them fight away the invaders, did not expect Vietnam to turn the gun on our country. This is mainly attributed to the Le Son group, in Vietnam there are actually pro-China people, after Huang Wenhuan came to China, some Vietnamese soldiers ran after him as an example, hoping that he could lead Vietnam to "revolution" again.
The last category is that he was persecuted, a financial assistant in the Vietnamese military camp was a senseless disaster, because the public funds and private funds of the troops were stolen, and the superiors suspected that it was him, and they could not produce evidence but expelled him from the party, and wanted to send him to a military court, so he shot and killed several people and ran to China.
In general, it is roughly these five categories, and later half of these 48 people were arranged to work as workers in Our country and became Chinese, some went to Hong Kong through other means, and more than 10 people finally chose to return to Vietnam.
In fact, in the modern era of Vietnam, as long as they follow China, they can live very well, like its resistance to France and the United States, they are pro-China and successful, they are now growing rapidly, but also completely rely on imitating China, if there is no Li Sung that section would be good.
