After returning to China in October 1952, the 27th Army was subordinated to the Nanjing Military Region and stationed in Wuxi.
After the Zhenbao Island incident, in September 1971, a division of the army was transferred to the Beijing area, and later transferred the army to Shijiazhuang, Hebei.
In September 1981, the 27th Army participated in the North China Exercise, and in 1985 it was reorganized into the 27th Group Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
