There are no eternal "relatives", only eternal interests.
Tang Xuanzong Li Longji and his aunt Princess Taiping were two people who once launched the "Tang Long Coup" together and overthrew the Wei hou clique in one fell swoop.
But later, after Li Longji took the throne, the two had a contradiction. Because Li Longji had more resources and did more ruthless things, in the end, Princess Taiping was given death, and most of Princess Taiping's children were executed. Really, the heart of the king is unpredictable!
Interestingly, Princess Taiping and Xue Shao's son Xue Chongjian were safe and sound, why?
1. Xue Chongjian and Li Longji are similar in age and have a good relationship since childhood.
It all started with the death of Li Longji's mother.
Li Longji's mother was Dou Defei and gave birth to a son and two daughters. The meek and virtuous Dou Meiren originally had good expectations for the future, but unfortunately, misfortune fell from heaven, and in 693 AD, he was executed by Wu Zetian for the crime of "manipulating witches". It turned out to be framed.
At that time, Li Longji was only 8 years old, so he did not like his grandmother. It can be seen from here that Wu Zetian is indeed a domineering person.
At the time of Li Longji's birth, Princess Taiping was already 20 years old, had been married for four years, and her husband was Xue Shao.
In the days with Xue Shao, Taiping gave birth to two boys and two daughters, and in 688, Taiping gave birth to the youngest child, Xue Chongjian. The sad thing is that Xue Chongjian has not yet grown up, Xue Chongjian and his father Xue Shao were implicated because of "brother supporting rebellion" and starved to death in prison, this year is 689. This is true "man sits in his home, and evil comes from heaven."
In the childhood years that followed, one had no mother and one had no father, so two lonely children could especially play together.
In terms of age, Li Longji, as a cousin, is only three years old when Xue Chongjian is old, so there is no so-called generation gap between the two.
It can be said that in the childhood time of the two, although they were not together every day, they were very happy to see each other once, and the two had each other's shadows in their childhood.
Since Xue Chongjian was part of Li Longji's childhood, naturally, when dealing with Princess Taiping and her children later, he had a certain emotional tendency.
Childhood friendships are innocent, but there are other reasons why Li Longji can not be killed.
2. When Xue Chongjian grew up, he often helped his cousin to do things.
After the death of her husband Xue Shao, Princess Taiping was introduced by Wu Zetian to Wu Youji (jì), a cousin of Wu Zetian. Originally, Wu Zetian wanted to marry his daughter to his nephew Wu Chengsi, but Wu Chengsi was ill at that time and had to give up.
Wu Youji (jì) was an honest man, although he had two sons and two daughters with Princess Taiping, but for Princess Taiping, he could not be stopped, so Princess Taiping was a child, adulterous with the chancellor, and mixed with male pets. Staged a scene of a small movie.
For his mother, Xue Chongjian could not choose, but for his own career, he could decide.
In 710 AD, the famous "Tanglong Coup" occurred, which was a powerful alliance between Princess Taiping and Li Longji, which directly took Over Empress Wei and pulled Li Chongmao, who had just taken office, from the throne. The famous talented woman Shangguan Wan'er was also killed in this coup.
And the horse behind Li Longji before the saddle was Xue Chongjian. Of course, at first, Xue Chongjian was assigned by his mother. Later, Xue Chongjian became a fan of Li Longji and greatly admired his cousin's behavior.
Watching her favorite son and Li Longji walk so close, Princess Taiping couldn't stop scolding. This made Xue Chongjian very incomprehensible to his mother.
Chang'an was so big, and the news that Princess Taiping had cleaned up Xue Chongjian had already reached Li Longji's ears, which brought a glimmer of light to Xue Chongjian's future.
It seems that when the child is older, he does not necessarily have to listen to the mother for everything, but must be dialectically viewed, otherwise, if he is not careful, he will fall into the pit.
A cousin who is very supportive of himself, will Li Longji get his hands on it? Hard.
3. Li Longji solved the Princess Taiping and let Xue Chongjian go, but his life was still not proud of the spring breeze.
As the saying goes, a mountain does not allow two tigers, unless one male and one female. But sometimes, even a male and a female may not be without fighting.
In the Tang Long coup, Princess Taiping and Li Longji seemed to cooperate well, but Princess Taiping still had a lot of opinions about Li Longji, and this 25-year-old nephew did not give himself face and killed Shangguan Wan'er. This upset Princess Taiping. They are all cooperative partners, so why bother?
Princess Taiping's idol is actually her mother Wu Zetian, but she is doomed to not be Wu Zetian, because Wu Zetian has a husband who is an emperor! However, Princess Taiping had her own ideas, and she could support an obedient emperor.
In 710, Li Dan became emperor by relying on the bravery of his son Li Longji, so the matter of establishing a prince came to a time to be resolved.
According to tradition, it was necessary to appoint the eldest son, Li Chengqi, but this boy was very clever and said: The younger brother has great merit, or the younger brother will be the prince. As a result, Li Longji became the crown prince, and Li Chengqi lived for 63 years because he gave way to the throne.
However, Princess Taiping was not satisfied with Li Longji's becoming crown prince, because it was too difficult to control. As a result, Princess Taiping began to interfere in the affairs of the dynasty and cultivate party henchmen on a large scale, and she wanted to see an opportunity to clean up Li Longji, and even once wanted to do Li Longji.
In 712, Princess Taiping provoked Li Dan and Li Longji's father and son, saying that Li Longji was going to usurp power. But Li Dan made a special move at this time: zen position. In this way, Li Longji became emperor and Li Dan became emperor.
Now that Princess Taiping has no tricks, what to do? Find an opportunity to oust Li Longji from power.
In 713, Princess Taiping relied on the power of Emperor Taishang to fly and intervene in politics, and half of the civil servants in the imperial court at that time would be dependents of Princess Taiping, and five of the seven prime ministers of the dynasty were from her disciples.
The situation was critical, and Li Longji felt a deep sense of fear.
Political struggles sometimes completely ignore relatives and blood relations, and only "you die and I live". Finally, at the end of July of that year, Li Longji arranged operation Thunder, under the banner of "Princess Taiping intends to rebel".
Facts show that Li Longji was a fierce and decisive lord, and soon he controlled the power of Princess Taiping, who was forced into a desperate situation, fled into the mountain temple, and came out three days later.
Without hesitation, Li Longji gave Princess Taiping a super gift of "a cup of poisoned wine" and sent Taiping to see her mother Wu Zetian. Many of Princess Taiping's lineage, including her sons, were all sent to Huangquan Avenue.
Only Xue Chongjian was not implicated.
It seems that the friendship between Xue Chongjian and Li Longji, as well as the behavior of supporting Li Longji, made Li Longji give Xue Chongjian a green light. So, what happened to Xue Chongjian's aftermath?
4. The second half of Xue Chongjian's life.
When Xue Chongjian was given poisoned wine by his mother, Xiao Xue was already 25 years old, and it was false to say that he was not uncomfortable. Seeing your brothers being slaughtered is false to say that you are not sad, but what can you do?
Although Xue Chongjian was pardoned, his cousin was no longer his former cousin. Two small friends, one became a king, and was an enemy who killed his mother; one as a subject, he also had to do the original work, Xue Chongjian was too difficult!
At first, Xue Chongjian still did his original job, but he was changed to Li surname, called Li Chongjian.
Many people thought that Li Longji would always take care of Xue Chongjian, but in fact, not long after Princess Taiping's death, Xue Chongjian was sent out of Chang'an, first in Pu prefecture (present-day Yongji, Shanxi). Later, it was relocated to Xizhou (溪州, in modern Longshan, Hunan) for several years. Obviously, this is demeaned. Fortunately, he has a good wife, can be with him, and the two have a deep affection.
Unfortunately, his wife Wu Shi (Wu Sansi daughter of king Wu of Liang) died of illness in 724 AD, which made Xue Chongjian sad.
Although, in that year, Xue Chongjian was reinstated as Yuan Zhou's driver, he was still unhappy, and his wife's departure hit him too hard. On September 23, 724, Xue Chongjian fell ill and died at the age of 36. It was an absolute untimely death!

According to Xue Chongjian's life, he could have had a brilliant career, but he had a strong mother and a strong cousin, and the two were incompatible, and Xue Chongjian was not a person sandwiched in the middle.
Although in the end, he was not killed by his cousin, but how could he be happy when he died his mother and brother? Therefore, when his wife died, Xue Chongjian's only support collapsed, and he could no longer live.
Yes, when a person's heart is dead, it is difficult to live again.
