Discovered by archaeologists
The Shaanxi Provincial Archaeological Research Institute announced the latest excavation results today (No. 17), and archaeologists found a high-grade Tang Dynasty tomb with four patios in the Airport New City of Xixian New District.
The tomb is a brick chamber structure, divided into two parts: the front chamber and the rear chamber. Among them, in the front room and in the niches in the tomb passage, pottery figurines, pottery horses and other funerary items have been found.
Even more remarkable is that archaeologists found a box of epitaphs in the antechamber of the tomb. The contents of the epitaph show that the owner of this tomb is
He was the son of Princess Chengyang, the daughter of Li Shimin and Empress Changsun, and was born into a royal family and was also the first husband of Princess Taiping.

Life of Xue Shao
Xue Shao (?) –689) was a native of Fenyin, Hedong, known as the Prince of Lantian, whose mother was Princess Chengyang, daughter of Emperor Taizong of Tang and Empress Changsun, and Princess Chengyang was the half-sister of Emperor Gaozong of Tang. Noble birth.
According to records, Xue Wan's god Yu Huijie, high standard Lang Xiu, was quite talented. Princess Chengyang and Xue Ou had a very harmonious relationship after marriage, and they had three sons, the eldest son Xue Yan, the second son Xue Xu, and the youngest son Xue Shao.
In the second year of Yonglong (681), Xue Shao married his cousin Princess Taiping, and the wedding was very grand, with illuminated torches even scorching the trees along the way, and even had to demolish the walls of the Wannian County Pavilion in order to allow the wide wedding car to pass.
History is not like in the "Daming Palace Words", Xue Shao did not have an original wife, nor did he not love Taiping, taiping was with him, gave birth to two sons and two daughters, and lived a very stable couple life for 7 years.

In 688, General Li Chong raised an army against Wu Zetian and wrote to Xue Yan, hoping that he would participate. Xue Yan actively recruited troops and responded to Li Chong's troops. Xue Yan was Xue Shao's older brother, and this implicated Xue Shao, and Wu Zetian ordered Xue Shao to be punished with a hundred staffs, and finally the tangtang horse starved to death in prison. At that time, Princess Taiping's youngest child had just reached the full moon.
In July of the first year of zaichu (690), Princess Taiping married Wu Youji. In order to let Princess Taiping marry Wu Youji, Wu Zetian executed Wu Youji's wife.
The tomb reveals Xue Shao's ending
During the excavation process, there are many indications that the tomb was artificially destroyed as early as the Tang Dynasty, and the people who destroyed the tomb apparently did not have the purpose of robbing the tomb, but for some purpose of venting anger or revenge, and destroyed many places in the tomb.
Who destroyed the tomb for what reason, archaeologists do not know. As a royal nobleman, Xue Shao went from becoming a royal horse, to being starved to death in prison because of political persecution, and then to the destruction of the tomb, and the ups and downs of his personal fate always made people sigh.
