Today I will share with you the story of the strange master of the Republic of China and the qing official Zhang Nanxian of a generation. Zhang Nanxian, born in 1873 in Qiuyang, Hubei Province, refused to take the township examination because he hated the imperial examination when he was young, and taught apprentices at home while learning new ideas and new knowledge. In 1904, he came to Wuhan, Hubei Province, and founded the revolutionary group "Science Tutorial Institute", although the two armed uprisings failed, but greatly promoted the spread of republican ideas in Hubei, and he was a down-to-earth Xinhai elder.
Born in Hubei, Zhang Nanxian came to Wuhan in 1904 to become a veteran figure in the Xinhai Revolution. In 1928, Zhang Nanxian served as the chairman of Zhejiang, because once after the Song Meiling family spent the money, Zhang Nanxian did not give reimbursement and accused this behavior at the meeting, which immediately made Song Meiling a little ugly, and then was hated by Song Meiling. At that time, just when a relegated official in Zhejiang reported Zhang Nanxian's corruption, Song Meiling sent Kong Lingwei and others to search Zhang Nanxian's home, and in the face of this insult, Zhang Nanxian resigned in anger and went home.
Before his official, a notice was deliberately posted next to the gate of the provincial capital, which read: "In the past three years, Yu has been the chairman of Zhejiang Province, handling countless public and private affairs, and has now resigned and returned to his hometown. When Zhang Nanxian left with his luggage, the people of Hangzhou put a square wooden table in front of the door, and on the table was a bowl of Qingshuihe and a mirror, standing to watch this honest and good official go home.
On the way back, the legend actually encountered a group of robbers, the bandits went through the luggage, of course, found nothing, only found dozens of pieces of cash. The leader of the bandits was also touched by the Qing official in front of him and ordered the bandits to kneel on the shoal to send Zhang Nan off first.
The matter was also published in the newspaper by the reporter who reported it. Soong Mei-ling's attitude toward Zhang Nanxian also changed, and she constantly recommended this person to Chiang Kai-shek and promoted him as the finance minister of Hubei Province.
After the liberation of the whole country, Zhang Nan successively served as a member of the Central Supervision Commission, a member of the Central People's Government, and a standing committee member of the National People's Congress; at the founding ceremony, Zhang Nanxian stood behind Mao and witnessed the historic moment of the "founding of the People's Republic of China." In 1968, Zhang Nanxian, who had a clean life, died of illness in Beijing at the age of 95.
