Toyota is recalling nearly 900,000 vehicles in China

Driving China's News on December 13, 2021, recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation released a message on its website that GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. Changchun Fengyue Company (authorized by Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd.) in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Implementation Measures for the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products. A recall plan was filed with the State Administration for Market Regulation, recalling a total of about 898,300 vehicles.

It is reported that the reason for the recall of the above vehicles is that the internal components of the engine exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR valve) may be corroded by the higher concentration of chlorine in the fuel, resulting in poor valve movement, which may cause the engine to run poorly, and in extreme cases, the vehicle will be turned off at low speed, increasing the risk of collision accidents and potential safety hazards. Before the recall for maintenance, if the engine failure light is lit and the engine is abnormally shaken, the user should immediately contact the dealership and go to the store to check the repair.
