IT House reported on December 12 that Nokia mobile phone licensee HMD Global is involved in India's "Made in India" initiative and is working with various ODMs (Original Design Manufacturers) and EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Solutions) to manufacture its smartphones and feature phones in the country.
Recently, the company has begun to export mobile phones produced in its Indian factories overseas.

HMD revealed this last week. Sanmeet Singh Kochhar, HMD's Global Vice President (India and the Middle East and North Africa), revealed in an interview with the Press Trust of India (PTI) on Thursday that the company is already exporting Nokia 105 feature phones to the UAE market, which was first launched in 2019 and has since become the number one feature phone sold in India and globally.
IT House understands that HMD's Global Vice President reiterates the huge relevance of feature phones in the current era of increasing popularity of smartphones, citing their versatility, long-lasting battery, ease of repair and low price.
