"Die for ism"

Li Dazhao pursued the truth all his life until he found Marxism and became the first person to spread Marxism in China. He once made his attitude clear: "I can confess that I like to talk about Bolzawiism ... We should study him, introduce him, and spread his reality in human society, and we should not blindly listen to the rumors that others have created for them, and use violent and cruel words to obliterate everything about them. After finding Marxism, Li Dazhao integrated Marxism with China's national conditions, actively explored and put into practice Socialism in China.

There will inevitably be sacrifices in the revolution, and Li Dazhao has a thorough understanding of life and death in battle. In 1919, he published the article "Sacrifice": "The purpose of life is to develop one's own life, but there are also times when one must sacrifice one's life in order to develop one's life." Because of ordinary development, sometimes it is not as good as heroic sacrifice enough to prolong the sound and brilliance of life. The beautiful scenery is mostly in the treacherous mountains. The music is mostly a sad rhyme. Noble life, often in the midst of heroic sacrifice. This short article is only 120 words, but it is full of sound, and it is inscribed with life and death. Li Dazhao was wanted by the government many times in his life, especially after the "March 18" massacre, and the Beijing government once again issued an order to arrest Li Dazhao and others. In the dangerous environment, Li Dazhao always stuck to his post, and his wife advised him to avoid it for the time being, and he calmly replied: "I can't easily leave Beijing, I am gone, who will do the work in Beijing?" On April 6, 1927, Li Dazhao and more than 60 other people were unfortunately arrested. In prison, he wrote the last article of his life, "Self-Narration in Prison", calmly reviewing the course of his 39 years of life: "Zhao Zishu sent a letter, that is, he was determined to work hard for the cause of national liberation, to practice what he believed, to practice what he knew, and to do nothing for the sake of merit."

On April 28, 1927, Li Dazhao made a heroic sacrifice for the "isms". Before his execution, the commanding executioner asked Li Dazhao about his opinion on the punishment of his family, and Li Dazhao said: "I am a communist who believes in communism, I know that there is doctrine and I do not know that I have a family, and I die for the sake of doctrine. "After the words were finished, he ascended to the gallows for the first time and died generously. Because he was able to take "dying for the doctrine" as his duty, when faced with the threat of death, Li Dazhao had no hesitation, sacrificed his family for the country, practiced his life motto, and extended the glory of his life with heroic sacrifices.

"Only with a truth-seeking attitude to do practical work"

"Down-to-earth" is the attitude and work style of life that Li Dazhao has adhered to throughout his life. In May 1924, Li Dazhao opened a course on "Essentials of Historiography" at the university. In the section "The Study of Modern Historiography and the Influence of Attitudes toward Life", he wrote: "Everything must be done in a down-to-earth manner, not in the fantasy, not in the sound of false sounds, but only with the attitude of seeking truth to do practical work, with this attitude to study, the truth can be understood, and if you do things with this attitude, you can do your work." ”

Li Dazhao was a well-known scholar, knowledgeable, and wrote, leaving more than 600 poems and more than 1.5 million words, which Mr. Lu Xun called "the last words of pioneers and a monument in the history of revolution."

Under his leadership, peking university libraries completed the transformation from old-style library buildings to modern libraries, and Li Dazhao was praised by the American Encyclopedia as the "father of modern Chinese library science". He was commissioned by the Party to hold talks with Sun Yat-sen in order to promote cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communists five times across the Yangtze River, three to Shanghai, and two to Guangzhou. Li Dazhao was widely respected and loved by young people inside and outside the party; he never cared about the level of his position, fame and fortune, neither he nor Chen Duxiu participated in the party congress, Chen Duxiu was elected secretary, but he did not enter the Central Bureau, and he was still not elected as a member of the Central Committee at the Second National Congress. Li Dazhao's life was hard and simple, "yellow curly green lanterns, ru bitter food, winter a silk coat, summer a cloth shirt" is a true portrayal of his life. Luo Zhanglong wrote in his reminiscences: "Comrade Shouchang kept his frugal promise and worked very hard. His room is simple, his food is not tasteful, his clothing is simple, the clothes of large cloth, the crown of large draperies" "Usually, just like the simple life of northerners, a big cake, a green onion, coarse tea and light rice will be satisfied." "Li Dazhao went to Chaoyang University in the north of the city to take a class, and brought his own steamed buns and boiled underwater belly for a lunch. Student Zhang Eryan saw that his life was so simple, suggested that he pay attention to increasing nutrition, he smiled and said: "Delicious food is pursued by everyone, why don't I try to enjoy it, nowadays the country is in trouble, the people are hungry, how can they only seek personal enjoyment, and do not think about the suffering of the masses?" "Three words and two words show his broad heart that is tied to the people.

On April 28, 1927, after Li Dazhao was killed by Zhang Zuolin, the family's living expenses were only one yuan, the wife was sick and had no money to treat, the orphans could not get a pension, and the coffin was unable to return to the soil until 1933, when he was buried in Xiangshan by relying on fellow donors. Li Dazhao's simple life has won the "Long Live the Thousand Autumns".

Li Dazhao pays attention to moral cultivation. When he first entered Peking University, he was just in time for President Cai Yuanpei to initiate the establishment of the Jinde Association to rectify the school spirit. Upon receiving this news, Li Dazhao immediately joined the self-recognized first-class member. After joining the association, Li Dazhao strictly observed the precepts of not prostituting, gambling, and not marrying concubines, and was praised by teachers and students for being unified in words and deeds, and treating others with self-denial.

Li Dazhao's interests are wide-ranging and elegant. He likes fine art, porcelain, flower raising, calligraphy, sports, music, etc., and there are still stories in his hometown that he wrote the shadow scroll "Ahn Junggen Thorn Itō Hirobumi" for his hometown shadow puppet class. Li Dazhao loves natural scenery more, and he calls himself "giving sex to Leshan, encountering lofty hills and mountains, and enduring every wandering." Li Dazhao ran for the revolution all his life, spanning the Yangtze River ten times, and the gushing and gushing Yangtze River and the Yellow River broadened his mind, tempered his courage, and enabled him to always maintain the spirit of revolutionary optimism. ”

Li Dazhao was bright and honest, and his heart was frank. He cared for the people and respected their labor. He advocated equality for all, believing that "all who work are noble and sacred" and are much stronger than "gentlemen, wise men, and politicians who eat human blood and do not do human work." In Li Dazhao's view, no matter what kind of profession he is engaged in, as long as it is legitimate, it is extremely noble and worthy of respect.

Li Dazhao cares about the growth of young people and is regarded as a good teacher and friend by the vast number of young people. He often said that young people are "the king of life, the spring of life, and the glory of life." He encouraged young people to cherish the good times and strive to create a "youth China". He is like a brother to young people, focusing on educating young people to cultivate a perfect personality. "If you see goodness, you will be advised." Comrades are strictly required to cultivate themselves strictly, and they are not allowed to pollute bad habits such as prostitutes and horns. Under his guidance, many young people embarked on the revolutionary road.

Li Dazhao has a gentle personality, and in interpersonal communication, he is known as "a good friend with a kind heart" and "inside and outside are like clouds, there is no sectarian atmosphere". He is enthusiastic about public welfare, and his son Li Baohua said when recalling his father, "He is very helpful, as long as he has money on hand, who needs it urgently will give it to whom, and if he does not talk about it, he will not return it." While serving at Peking University, Li Dazhao actively participated in the initiation of the "Beijing Academic Circles Redemption Road Gathering", "Peking University Disaster Relief Society", "Peking University Women and Children Relief Association", etc., raising litigation fees for Chen Duxiu and funeral expenses for Professor Zhu Pengxian. When the party was first formed, the cost was tight, and Li Dazhao took 80 yuan from his salary (120 yuan) every month as the party's funds, and the remaining salary would also support those poor young people, so that the family was insufficient. After the school learned of this situation, it first took out a part of it every month to Mrs. Li to arrange for the family, and then solved the problem of cooking without rice. It is really a relief for the revolutionary cause to destroy the family and to show the courage of the people.

"Iron shoulders bear morality, and clever hands write articles" is a couplet written by Li Dazhao to his friends, and it is also a true portrayal of his glorious life. Communist Party members should take Li Dazhao and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation as models, always set strict demands on themselves according to the standards of qualified party members, strengthen their political theoretical cultivation, strengthen their communist ideals and convictions, work in a down-to-earth manner, cultivate lofty moral character, and display extraordinary style in ordinary posts.
