Years ago, it was a mess of rocky hills. "We should all thank our benefactor, Professor Li Baoguo!" Gao Shengfu, head of Hebei Green Ridge Company, sighed.
Rooted in the Taihang Mountains for 35 years, he bent down to find a way out for the masses to get rid of poverty, used science and technology to throw barren mountains and bald mountains into history, and left the green waters and green mountains for the future; every year he went into the mountains to "farm" for more than 200 days. He is the "people's model" and the "new fool" on the Taihang Mountains who has created a new road for poverty alleviation in mountainous areas -- Li Baoguo.
Li Baoguo was born in 1958 to a rural family in Wuyi County, Hengshui City, Hebei Province. In 1981, as the first batch of college students after the resumption of the college entrance examination, Li Baoguo stayed on to teach after graduation from Hebei Forestry College (the predecessor of the Forestry College of Hebei Agricultural University). After only ten days on the job, he and his colleagues plunged into the Taihang Mountains and engaged in mountain development research.
The most important thing in the Taihang Mountains is the big stones, and the most lacking thing is the land. In Qiannanyu Village, Xingtai City, Hebei Province, looking at the "stone mountains" one after another, Li Baoguo came to the "bar head" momentum. He ran all over the ravines on the mountain and thought that the blasting of the land was promising in improving the soil quality.
The soil is thickened, the water is retained, and the survival rate of trees is increased from 10% to 90%. On this basis, Li Baoguo began to guide farmers to plant chestnuts. Over the past few years, Qiannanyu has not only become a well-known wealthy village, but also one of the "greenest places in the Taihang Mountains".
From the former Nanyu Village, Li Baoguo installed his "home" in the Taihang Mountains. In order to help the people of Gangdi Village in Xingtai City get rich, Li Baoguo has worked hard to develop 128 standardized apple production and management processes. Apple cultivation alone, the per capita annual income of villagers has reached more than 30,000 yuan from less than 100 yuan.
Yang Shuangniu, general secretary of the party branch of Gangdi Village, recalled: "He really thought about us poor villagers, and his heart was thinking about the common people. He often gets up early and gets dark, drills trenches and climbs mountains, and the more windy and rainy it is, the more he goes up the mountain, and studies his subjects. He did it himself, and he asked his students to do the same. The people see it in their eyes and hurt in their hearts, they are a university professor, serving our Gangdi Village like this, and they are very grateful to him from the bottom of their hearts. ”
"If I am a Communist Party member, I will serve the people; if I am a teacher, I will serve the students." This is Li Baoguo's mantra and a true portrayal of his teaching work. In order to enable the students to better combine theory and practice, Li Baoguo "rushed" a large number of students to the fields.
He often said: "To engage in scientific research, we must be like peasants planting land, sowing spring and autumn harvest, and being down-to-earth." If you can't get into the dirt, you can't grow into a beam. ”
How to "write" a paper on the ground? Guo Suping, wife of Li Baoguo and researcher of the College of Forestry of Hebei Agricultural University, said: "The economic forestry profession is closely integrated with practice, and baoguo has brought great benefits to farmers on the one hand by running to the point, helping farmers to take a road of getting rid of poverty and getting rich, and at the same time constantly supplementing teaching materials and teaching content, so that students are willing to listen to his lessons." ”
Long-term scientific research work, a large number of scientific research results, rich practical experience, Li Baoguo most understand the frontier of the discipline, the needs of the countryside, the expectations of fruit farmers. He timely enriched his scientific research results and experience gained in practice into the teaching content, and updated the information of the production line in a timely manner in the teaching materials and lectures.
On April 10, 2016, Li Baoguo suffered a heart attack and was unable to rescue him, leaving his family, his students, and his villagers in the Taihang Mountains forever... In the past 30 years, Li Baoguo has completed 28 research achievements in mountain development, making 1.4 million mu of barren mountains green, and helping 100,000 farmers get rid of the "poor hat". He was indifferent to fame and fortune, frank and selfless, did not seek returns, did not care about gains and losses, neither took the remuneration given by the peasants, nor held shares in enterprise awards, and maintained the noble qualities of the communists throughout his life of honesty, honesty, and selfless dedication.
"Bao guo is gone, but he still has unfinished business, and there are still many ordinary people who need him, and I think this is also his biggest concern before he died." Li Baoguo's lover Guo Suping recalled that his partner and colleague had wet eye circles. She told reporters that experts, colleagues, students and farmers who had fought side by side with Li Baoguo formed a scientific and technological poverty alleviation team and were working with her to continue to carry forward Li Baoguo's unfinished business.
At present, in order to help farmers and friends sell walnuts, apples and other agricultural products and get better returns, Guo Suping and her team use e-commerce to open up new sales paths, and she herself has also started a free "anchor with goods".
In order to commemorate Li Baoguo, the villagers specially built the Li Baoguo Science and Technology Museum at the walnut planting base and erected a statue of him.
