When the villagers heard that the university professor had come, they brought out the best apples in the village to entertain him.
Li Baoguo immediately decided to use the mountain control technology they studied to re-transform the barren mountains of Gangdi Village. In this way, Li Baoguo and the villagers spent three years to organize the barren mountains into terraces, and also planted apple trees from the bottom of the mountain to the mountain, and then Li Baoguo began to train the villagers in pruning fruit trees. After the villagers mastered the technique of pruning fruit trees, Li Baoguo began to promote the apple bagging technology, but the promotion of this technology was not smooth. Because the villagers did not accept new things, Li Baoguo had to put tens of thousands of yuan on his own to buy paper bags to teach the villagers to use. By the time of the autumn harvest, these apples, which use apple bagging technology, are large and taste good, and sell at a high price that has never been seen before.
In 2020, gangdi villagers have only one apple, and their annual per capita income is 45,000 yuan. Due to long-term overload, Li Baoguo suffered from diabetes and fatigue coronary heart disease, and many people advised him to run less into the mountains and rest more. But he remained unchanged until the last moment of his life. In the early morning of April 10, 2016, at the age of 58, he suddenly suffered a heart attack and died after ineffective rescue. Although Professor Li Baoguo is gone, he has promoted 36 standardized forestry practical technologies in the Taihang Mountains, turning 1.4 million mu of barren mountains from bald to green, and driving more than 100,000 farmers out of poverty.
