Li Baoguo: Green barren mountains have enriched the people

On August 25, Guo Suping, a researcher at Hebei Agricultural University, and his team were conducting technical guidance to fruit farmers in Gangdi Village, Neiqiu County, Hebei Province. In the field, between the lofty mountains and mountains, Guo Suping and her team are working hard for the cause of rejuvenating agriculture with science and technology and serving the masses.

Through science and technology to alleviate poverty, green barren mountains, rich people, this is also Guo Suping's lover, Hebei Agricultural University professor, national outstanding Communist Party member, "people's model" national honorary title winner Li Baoguo's life portrayal.

In 1981, Li Baoguo stayed on to teach after graduating from Hebei Forestry College. After only ten days on the job, he and his colleagues plunged into the Taihang Mountains and engaged in mountain development research.

When he first entered Taihang, he chose the poorest and most desolate former Nanyu village at that time to carry out a pilot development. There, Li Baoguo and his colleagues in the research group worked the technology and competed with Stone Mountain. The soil is barren, drought and water shortage, so work soil and water. In the direction of "gathering soil and gathering runoff", they began to explore the blasting and land preparation technology in mountainous areas.

After more than ten years of development and management by Li Baoguo and his colleagues, the barren mountain bald ridge in Qiannanyu Village has been transformed into a "acacia hat on the top of the mountain, a fruit tree wrapped around the waist in the mountain, and a terraced field at the bottom of the mountain", with a forest coverage rate of 90.7% and a vegetation coverage rate of 94.6%.

In 1996, he rushed to Gangdi Village in Neiqiu County, which was seriously affected by the disaster, and solemnly promised: Do not take a penny from the village, and use the apple industry to make the villagers rich! To this end, Li Baoguo has eaten and lived in the village for 9 consecutive years, practicing and studying day and night. In order to promote the apple bagging technology, he bought 160,000 fruit bags out of his own pocket. He said: "The bagging has reduced production, the loss is mine, and the profit is everyone's." ”

"In order for farmers to put technology in place, we must keep an eye on and stare at farmers to death." Bagging, de-bagging, turning fruit, fertilizing... He created 128 apple standardized production management processes. Nowadays, only by growing apples, the per capita annual income of Gangdi Village is more than 30,000 yuan.

On the rocky beach hills of Fenghuangling in Lincheng County, Li Baoguo spent 10 years exploring a high-quality thin-skinned walnut green and efficient cultivation technology system. Today, 600,000 mu of thin-skinned walnuts are planted in the barren hilly area of Xingtai City, with an annual output value of more than 2 billion yuan.

Qiannanyu mode, Gangdi mode, Green Ridge mode, Huluyu mode... Li Baoguo has explored a new path for the development of mountainous areas that takes into account ecological construction, industrial development, and poverty alleviation. In the vast Taihang Mountains, he has completed 28 research achievements in mountain development, made 1.4 million mu of barren mountains green, and created national well-known brands such as "Fugang" apples, "pulp water" chestnuts, and "Green Ridge" walnuts. The 36 practical agricultural technologies he innovated and popularized helped farmers in mountainous areas increase their income by 5.85 billion yuan and led more than 100,000 people to get rid of poverty and become well-off.

In the past 35 years, Li Baoguo has settled his home in the Taihang Mountains, and through the power of science and technology, he has turned the barren mountains into green waters and green mountains, and built them into "Golden Mountains and Silver Mountains". In the past 35 years, he has lived with farmers day and night, teaching technology hand in hand, and has directly helped more than 40 villages, and indirectly led to the development of more than 100 villages, enriching the people.

In the early morning of April 10, 2016, Li Baoguo died of a sudden heart attack at the age of 58 after ineffective rescue.

"I must contribute all my knowledge and ability, and the fathers and fellow villagers of Taihang Mountain will become rich, and my career will be considered successful." Li Baoguo's words before his death continued to echo.

In recent years, under the leadership of Guo Suping, the "Li Baoguo Science and Technology Poverty Alleviation Service Team" composed of Li Baoguo's former colleagues and students has successively taught technology and solved problems in more than 300 counties in 13 provinces and cities across the country, so that more and more people can get rid of poverty and become rich.
