After watching "Jin Zhiying in 82", the behavior of the characters in this film is difficult to convince some viewers. Most obviously, her husband, Jeong Dae-hyun, had promised his wife, Kim Ji-young, a one-year maternity leave, but because her mother-in-law did not agree, Kim Ji-young eventually gave up on her husband's decision to take the baby. Some viewers believe that in the case of the husband relying on the strength of one person, so that the family can live a well-off life, Jin Zhiying's two sons do not need to take into account the mother-in-law's feelings at all, since the husband agrees, the biggest practical problem of the film has been solved, but the film grinds, the behavior logic does not understand, and only forcibly makes the heroine miserable and desperate.
The same thing happened to Kim Ji-young's mother. When Kim Ji-young faced the fact that her mother had stopped operating a restaurant and came to the house to help take care of the children, she had a solution to the problem of not having time to go to work.
Whether it is a husband or a mother, it seems that they are helping themselves solve the problem, but before the ending, Jin Zhiying still has to personally scrub off the oil paint painted by the child on the bathroom wall, is it because Jin Zhiying is a demon himself, and he does not let his husband and mother help with the child?
The truth of the matter is far from simple. When the husband promised Kim Ji-young to take maternity leave with the child, he only fulfilled the responsibility of a husband, but unfortunately, as a south Korean adult man after the 80s, he would not fulfill the responsibility of his son - to make the mother satisfied with his future development. Although as many people say, Zheng Daxian is not a man who is trapped in life, he does not even need 996, he can bear the family's food and clothing, but also can maintain a decent appearance. But all of this is inseparable from Zheng Daxian's original family.
What kind of childhood and adolescence did Zheng Daxian live? We can see this from certain other male characters. Kim Ji-young's younger brother Kim Ji-seok is a "ten-finger non-stick yang chunshui" master at home, he does not have to help his sisters take care of the housework, in the same way, he does not have to sacrifice his ideals for the rest of the family, his life, just need to care about his own future.
Several of Zheng Daxian's male colleagues, as well as Jin Zhiying's male colleagues and male leaders when he went to work before, did not have to worry at all that "having children" would delay his career prospects, nor would he suffer criticism from the outside world because of poor parenting or becoming a madman in the workplace, and ended up with a reputation of only caring about his own future and ignoring the duties of his husband. Therefore, they can enjoy the workplace, and even complain about the unhappiness at work to their wives, and live a normal life with peace of mind, because the fault is not their own.
More seriously, male power in Korean society can be glimpsed from the third category of men. For example, jin zhiying's former female colleagues encountered sexual harassment when they went to work, and men could arbitrarily install cameras in the women's toilet to satisfy their voyeurism. On the bus route to the cram school when Jin Zhiying was a teenager, she was sexually assaulted and almost raped by men. But Kim's father, instead of finding protection for his daughter, attributed the sins that did not occur to his daughter.
This is the Korean male society in which Jeong Dae-hyun lives as a husband. Many people will say that the husband played by Kong You is already quite good to his wife, and if it is other men, he will definitely not be so gentle. However, even after Jin Zhiying has these "gentleness", she is still difficult to solve her dilemma as a woman. When her family faces her in-laws again, can she still be forgiven and comforted? Empathy and mutual assistance between women never occur in the mother-in-law relationship of the "Kim Ji-young". Just like the "female trap" that Zhang Ailing repeatedly mentions in the novel: the women of the previous generation who suffered an unjust fate will double the poison of the next generation of unfortunate women.
"Jin Zhiying in 82 years" is quite whiplashy in that it does not present Jin Zhiying's misery and alienation all the time, but brings out the tragedy with idle pen. Such as how Kim Ji-young's mother sacrificed herself to take care of her family, the peeping incident of female white-collar workers, Kim Ji-young's sexual harassment in her youth, etc., these seemingly unrelated fragments of the main line, just let a cruel social problem be concerned: how was Jin Zhiying born?
When we return to the two solutions at the beginning, can the mother help Jin Zhiying solve the problem? It is unlikely that the vast majority of "Kim Ji-young' families will live, because the mother also has to live, and the brothers and sisters of "Kim Ji-young" are not necessarily understanding.
And the husband ignores the restrictions of his mother-in-law and takes care of his own children for a year? At the end of the film, this happy ending is adopted, which can return to the family gap problem mentioned above: can the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law be relieved of each other when they face each other again? Once her husband Zheng Daxian is reinstated, his work is unfavorable, even if he does not blame Jin Zhiying, does not his mother-in-law gossip?
The reality is that not every Kim Ji-young has the ability to write novels, and even in the dilemma of schizophrenia, he uses it as a life-saving Dan, not only saving himself, but also supporting his family. As such, the end of this film is actually contrary to the criticism of the whole film, using an unrealistic character skill to make up for the social wounds that will never heal.
Because Jin Zhiying, who was born in 82, experienced the sexism of the entire era, as well as various residual problems caused by discrimination, such as the brainless label of "mother worm" such as straight male cancer and ignorant viewers. Of course, the real voice of East Asian men may be even more excessive: at a time when society as a whole wants to make this generation of women subordinate, women want to realize their personal value? After the film was released in South Korea, local men scored a 2-star bad review, which is enough to prove their disgust with this "female delusion".
Of course, they don't want to admit that men are the culprits, but instead treat themselves as victims: How can we men be assholes as in the movies? This movie is insulting us!
And when these men insult women with various means, we can only see what Chung Dae-hyun's male colleagues said: Now these women are full of tricks, and I would rather go back to the Korean era!
