Golden-shelled golden yao pillar, containing carotenoids! Young farmers have bred gold scallops

The golden yellow shell and the golden yellow yao pillar are not only good-looking but also have high nutritional value... The high-value new scallop "Qingnong Golden Shell" selected and bred by Qingdao Agricultural University and other teams has officially obtained the certificate of new aquatic varieties. This is also the first hermaphroditic scallop rich in carotenoids selected and bred in China.

On May 17, the Fisheries and Fisheries Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the National Aquatic Origin and Fine Seed Approval Committee issued the 2019 Aquatic New Species Certificate in Zhuhai, and the scallop "Qingnong Golden Shell" selected by the team of Professor Wang Chunde of the College of Marine Science and Engineering of Qingdao Agricultural University was awarded the Aquatic New Variety Certificate, which was jointly selected by Qingdao Agricultural University, the Institute of Oceanography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Yantai Haizhichun Aquatic Seed Industry Technology Co., Ltd.

The scallop "Qingnong Golden Shell" was selected and bred by the team in the previous process of breeding a new variety of scallops "Bohai Red". From the third generation of breeding groups of the hybrid generation of purple scallops and bay scallops, the team selected 500 individuals with closed shell muscles and shells that were golden yellow as the basic group, taking the golden yellow of closed shell muscle as the target trait, using group selection technology, and was selected by 4 consecutive generations. Under the same breeding conditions, the growth rate of "Qingnong Golden Shell" is not significantly different from that of "Bohai Red" scallop, and the proportion of closed shell muscle golden yellow is 97%, which is suitable for hanging cage culture along the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea coast in China.

Scallop "Qingnong Jinbei" is the third national hybrid scallop new variety selected by professor Wang Chunde of Qingdao Agricultural University using purple scallops and bay scallop hybridization, previously, the scallop "Bohai Hong" and scallop "Qingnong No. 2" selected by the team obtained the National Aquatic New Species Certificate in 2016 and 2018, and has now become the main breeding species in the northern sea of China.

The closed shell muscles and shells of "Qingnong Golden Shell" are golden yellow, the dried product is bright orange-red, rich in carotenoids, and carotene has antioxidant, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory and anti-fatigue health benefits. After the closed shell muscle is dried, it is "dried scallops", also known as "Yaozhu", which is listed as one of the eight treasures of the sea and is known as the best seafood. Previously, the team of Academician Bao Zhenmin of ocean university of China and the team of Professor Zheng Huaiping of Shantou University had selected and bred two hermaphroditic scallops rich in carotenoids, "Qingnong Jinbei" in China, which were the first hermaphroditic scallops of the same size rich in carotenoids, and the successful breeding of new varieties of carotenoid-rich scallops was successfully bred for the breeding of new varieties of carotenoid-rich scallops in China.
