Shaquil O'Neill: My stepfather taught me never to settle for the status quo

Recently, former NBA player Shaquille O'Neal mentioned in an interview with The Dan Patrick Show that his stepfather once took away the trophies and medals he won in high school.

He said in the interview: "He often took my trophy and put it in a box, never put it out. When I was a little older I asked him why you were doing this, and he replied that he wanted me to never settle for more than just the status quo. So a few years after his death I got the trophies back, I made a room of honor for my stepfather to honor him, and now I'm doing the same thing to my children. Now I also ask my children to show me their trophies and will say thank you to them because I don't want them to settle for the status quo either. ”

O'Neal averaged 34.7 minutes in his career and had 23.7 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.26 blocks.
