West Rock Mountain overlooks Hong Jinglong in the distance
Fuyang District, Hangzhou City, has beautiful scenery since ancient times and has a long cultural context. Wu Jun's aria "From Fuyang to Tonglu 100 Miles, Strange Mountains and Waters, Unique in the World" and Li Huan's praise of "The World's Best Landscapes, Ancient and Modern Pushing Fuchun" all show the grandeur of Fuyang's landscape and humanities.
West Rock Mountain is one of the representative attractions where Fuyang's nature and humanities reflect each other. According to Kangxi's Fuyang County Chronicle, Xiyan Mountain was "thirty-five miles north of the county, west of the Xiaoling Road", hence the name Xiyan Mountain.

Xiyan Mountain has a taoist cultural history of nearly 2,000 years. According to Guangxu's "Chronicle of Fuyang County", since the Three Kingdoms period, Eastern Wu Ge Xian Weng practiced dan here, and the sun soared. After leaving a place name called Baisheng Village, this is a unique footnote of Chinese Taoist culture in Fuyang.
Bai Juyi was a genius observer and creator of natural beauty, and at the same time a Taoist believer who "wore a layman's clothes and held the South China Chapter in his hand". He dredged the West Lake during his tenure in Hangzhou And built Shantang Street in Suzhou, making Suzhou and Hangzhou a "paradise on earth" that can be called a fairyland, and leaving countless poems to promote the beauty of Suzhou and Hangzhou.

The beauty and Taoist culture of West Rock Mountain are deeply in line with Bai Juyi.
Therefore, it is no wonder that Bai Juyi has wandered in the West Rock Mountain several times. Qing Kangxi and Guangxu also proudly wrote in the "Fuyang County Chronicle": "Tang Baiju is easy to guard Hangzhou, and often travels to this mountain." ”
Since you linger, you will inevitably ascend to the top of the poem. One of the earliest surviving chronicles in Hangzhou, Xian Chun's Lin'an Zhi, records a poem left by Bai Juyi when he went to Xiyan Mountain to enjoy the game: "The immortal dwelling objects of the ancient times are like Rao, and the Dao cheng Dan cooks the day and ascends to the sky." The rock front treasure stone turns to pine rhyme, and the cave mouth lingchi should respond to the tide of the sea. Cliff folding hundred flowers late at night, cranes return to the clear night chirping. Climbing to the Xiyi Realm, the hand whisks the Yundu Stone Bridge. ”
Among them, "Ancient Immortal Residence", "Daocheng Danshu" and "Xiyi Realm" are All Bai Juyi's lamentations about the rich Taoist culture of Xiyan Mountain. The lingchi of "Ying Hai Chao" in the Jaw Union is the "Ying Tide Pond" mentioned in Kangxi's "Fuyang County Chronicle". It is said that the water in the pond can rise and fall with the tide of the Fuchun River in the morning and evening (corresponding to the tide in the morning and evening). The baoling in it may be both a daily use of the chime and more likely to be a scenic spot called the "Drum Sound Stone". In Kangxi's "Chronicle of Fuyang County", this drum sound stone at the foot of Xiyan Mountain will make a sonorous sound when it is pulled, similar to the sound of drums, and it is also close to the sound of chimes, so it is called "drum sound stone".

There are many scenic spots in West Rock Mountain, in addition to the two places in Bai Juyi's poem, there are also "Yingxi Cave", "Pilu Rock", "Luobi", "Leo", "Baguatai", "Ganlu Spring", "Mingqin Stream" and other 18 excellent scenery, coupled with mountain peaks, streams, pines and green bamboo, so the ancients praised it as "enough to call the cave heaven blessed land".
When Bai Juyi settled in Luoyang in his later years, he still did not forget to "remember Jiangnan", which must also have a touch of his memory of often visiting Fuyang's West Rock Mountain.
