The Ximen River in Hepu County is the mother river of Hepu, named because the river flows through the west of Hepu County. The Ximen River, which now seems to be a narrow river, is a river with a long history, a very important waterway in history, and is the inland golden waterway of the Hepu Han Dynasty Maritime Silk Road.
However, because the development and construction of the Ximen River channel has accelerated with the upstream and downstream of the river, the lower reaches of the river have encircled the sea to create fields, and the upper reaches have blocked the river and opened up the land, and the surface of the Ximen River has shrunk sharply, and now the section of the county is no longer navigable. Coupled with the increase in the urban population, the Ximen River is seriously polluted and has become a stinky ditch. In recent years, Hepu County has re-rectified the Ximen River, and the once beautiful Ximen River has slowly returned.
As the inland golden waterway of the maritime Silk Road in the past, the Ximen River has left many historical sites along the coast, the famous one is the ancient city of Lianzhou. Where the Ximen River flows, the river bends and bends, forming many turns, among the many turns, there is a place where the geographical environment is very special, which can be called the first major turn of the Ximen River in Hepu County.
In addition to the particularly large bend, there is a special point in this turn, the Ximen River once again divides into two rivers, one connecting the Nanliu River, and the other flowing south into the beibu Bay sea. The Ximen River forms a small plain here.
The unique geographical environment has ultimately created a unique history and culture here. Now looking at the first big turn in the city of Hepu County, Ximen Jiang, there is nothing special, but here is the location of the famous ruins of Hepu County,Cao Shoe Village, which is an important part of the Hepu Han Tomb Group and the Seoul Ruins, and a national key cultural relics protection unit.
The ruins of Caoshoe Village include the site of the Han Dynasty city and the ruins of the Song and Ming kiln groups. The city walls and moats were found here, possibly the castle of Hepu County. It is now a flat field, but historically it may have been a bustling city, and boats from the Ximen River kept shuttling through the river.
In addition to the ruins of Grass Shoe Village, near the first turn of the Ximen River, there are hepu County Centennial School, Lianzhou Middle School, and historical buildings such as Cape Pavilion and Kuixing Tower are still preserved in Lianzhou Middle School.
The unique terrain may be one of the main reasons why it has historically been a city.
